Coheed and Cambria's latest album

SP33Demon

Anyone heard it? It's pretty dam good, I'd suggest picking it up if you like Rush, some of the stuff sounds similar... lots of ecclectic styles but really like it.

Yeah the title is nuts... didn't even bother spelling it out.

This album is much better than their other ones IMO, especially musically. Lyrically it's meh. But I only listen to it for the musical aspect.

The first Coheed and Cambria song I heard was "Welcome Home," off their latest album...that song alone definitely gave me a Rush/Led Zeppelin/Pink Floyd/classic Genesis vibe...I thought to myself, finally a rock band that pays tribute to the classic rock Gods of the 60s and 70s. Even the way they name their albums...and the whole comic book/sci-fi story connection to their albums...an actual concept album concept.

I go to their website, and the band's journal makes reference to Geddy Lee, John Bonham, and other icons of the bands mentioned previously...the lead singer even sounds a bit like Geddy Lee.

My first impression...a harder, younger version of Rush.

And then I made the mistake of buying two of their albums.

Pure EMO bubblegum crap...while "Welcome Home" is certainly an amazing song, it seems that the band is having a bit of an identity crisis...even their image is a mix of one too many influences...the guitarist, bass player and drummer all have the telltale short cropped haircuts and Abercrombie outfits of the EMO/indie scene...yet the lead singer has a flowing mane of old school rocker hair, and dresses the part.

If you like EMO/Indie, you will probably like Coheed and Cambria...their music is certainly diverse, although their melodies are a bit repetitive, as are the lead guitar riffs.

It's unfortunate, at least to my musical tastes, that the band was not as incredible as "Welcome Home" would suggest.

this is not a bad disc. the final track shows some very good guitar skill. some songs on here are very interesting... if you like prog rock then you're good to go.

great disc.

Yeah I'd have to agree with this statement as well. I turn the radio off when it come on.
