Was listening to a podcast interview with Josh Mosqueira from Relic, and he said that Company of Heroes is selling as or better Steam than it has at Best Buy. That's pretty impressive IMO, and shows that digital distribution does have an impact on game sales. While he didn't have exact numbers for Steam sales, he did say they were very happy with the numbers and that they are still constantly breaking records for legitimate CoH online players, and that at one point, it actually broke the system because they had more users online than they had anticipated.

CoH is an awesome game, and I hope PC game sales can continue to sustain Relic as a company who develops for the PC in the long term.

Best Buy is only 1 retailer....

saying Steam beats Best Buy doesn't say much...How's it compare to the rest of retailers....

Best Buy sells a lot of games, they comprise quite a large margin of NPD sales. I'd say if Steam is selling as many copies as Best Buy, it's a significant number. Besides, it's pretty much one of the few indications we have of Steam sales since those numbers are not available to the public at this point.

Steam is only one channel as well.
Company of Heroes is also available on places like Direct2Drive.
