Cogage mounting mechanism interchangeable with TRUE?

Hi, I've had a Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme for a few years (original revision), and when the time came to upgrade to Core i7, I didn't want to shell out another $70 (Australian) for another of the same cooler, so I bought an Asus P6T which has mounting holes for socket 775 as well as 1366 coolers.

However, for a while I've been wanting to get a different motherboard (mainly because 8 internal SATA ports isn't enough for me), so I'm eyeing the Gigabyte X58A-UD3R.

Problem is, then I'll need a proper LGA-1366 cooler.

The Cogage TRUE Spirit is on special at one of my stores for $39 AUD at the moment, and I was wondering, if I bought that, would I be able to use the Socket 1366 mounting mechanism from the Cogage to mount my TRUE, and then mount the Cogage on a Socket 775 system using my current mounting mechanism?

The heatsinks look like they're mounted in the same way, but I wanted to make sure before I shell out.

I don't know the answer to your question, but Thermalright makes a 1366 kit for people who own the LGA775 version. Just google for "thermalright LGA1366 bolt-thru-kit".

cogage is a thermalright subsidiary company. the cogage TRUE spirit is just a rebranded thermalright ultra 120 (not the extreme, which has 6 heatpipes instead of 4). the mounting mechanisms should be identical if not at least compatible

Thanks for the responses.

Yeah, I was aware of the bolt-thru-kit, and the fact that it's a 'value' brand owned by Thermalright, just wasn't sure if they used the same mounting mechanism (though it looks the same... just a big hole at the top of the base).

When purchasing my current system ~7 months ago, I had intended to get the BTK, but I could only find one place in my state that carried it, and they had it priced at $29 AUD. As you can imagine, I scoffed at that price. (The LGA-1156 equivalent was $10-15).

It now seems justified as now I can get the same thing plus an actual HS+F for $10 more.

I'm sure all these prices seem outrageous to those of you who have access to newegg ;)

yea they normally sell those things for $5-10 in the states lmao. thermalright ones are usually the most expensive. before newegg ran out of stock on every xigmatek product (nothing from them in stock right now lmao) they had a bolt through kit listed for $5. well, friend of mine bought a dark night a while back when frys had em on sale for $30, its the exact same mounting mechanism, probably even made by the same company lmao

The TRUE will definitely work with the Cogage's mounting bracket. The Cogage only has a push-pin system though, i.e. no backplate and screws.

Isn't it usually easier/cheaper to get a PCIe SATA controller than a whole new mobo? Only six of the SATA ports are off the Intel chipset so any extra ports are third party controllers anyways.
