Sorry another "is this power supply good enough" question.
Wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Codegen 350W PS. I'm looking to power a ECS K7S5A + Duron 900. Their power supplys are AMD Duron Recommended from Duron 600 to Duron 1200. These power supplys can be found for very cheap on pricewatch, but I have not read about anyone recommending this brand.

Thanks!

Other system components:
SB Live MP3
TNT2 Ultra
256MB PC133
CD-ROM drive
56K Win Modem
Floppy (duh)

I powered my k7s5a 1.4tbird with a codegen 300w. Never had any problems.

I had at that time

1 hard drive
1 cdrom
2 case fans

So not much drawing power. I've since switched cases and power supplies.

You probably haven't read any recommendations of Codegen psu's since there isnøt anything to recommend!
Seriously, Codegen psu's are cheap for a reason, many shops I know of use the 300W as a basic psu, it'll keep your computer powered.
I used to use one to power my now deceased 1,4 T-bird on a K7T Turbo Raid with 2 harddrives and 1 dvd and 1 cd-burner and I couldn't oc at all, okay I could run 1533 but it was unstable. Then I got a Chieftec 340W psu and 1533 was rock stable.
I still have it, use it for testing rig, the specs for it is:

300W
+3.3V = 14A
+5V = 30A
+12V = 10A
-5V 0.5A
-12V = 0.8A
+5vsb = 2A

Quite weak actually, but it would have power enough for your setup. Runs fine with my ECS K7S5A and a Duron 1Ghz too, but don't expect too much of it.

I wouldnt push it super hard, but I had one running a 1.2tbird and an ECS k7ama. Also built a k7s5a and 1g tbird for a friend with 1 HD and 2cd and no problem with the 300W. However, I now run an Antec sx1040B and the Enermax version with the 330-350W supply!

Thanks for the replys.

I may still get one cuz you can find them on pricewatch for ~$30 for a 350W. This is for an upgrade to my dad's computer. He is more worried about price than performance so overclocking isn't going to be an issue.

If anyone could suggest a power supply that is AMD approved for the Duron 900 that is pretty cheap (around ~$30) I would appreciate it.

Thanks again.

i think www.linkpca.com has a HighPower 300W for $25. 340W for $38.
For me, i will not worry too much for a Duron 900. Not much of device that need a high power PS.

I am running a K7S5A, 1.4 TB, CDRW, DVDROM, 7200rpm 30G HD, TNTpro, Creative Live!+mp3, 256MB DDR with the 300W come with Englight 7327. No problem there.
