Tonights Code Update addressed a few issues and enhanced a couple of things here and there.

1. Search title only now searches topic title and topic summary, it used to search message title.
2. If you enclose a string in quotes in the quick search on the left or in categories it will now perform a exact phrase search.
3. The filter box on the search page should function for dark themes now.
4. Some core search work was performed on the full text querying, optimizing rank/date. Note: if you want to order by date alone, use advanced search (Filtering).
5. Front page of forums now shows the total post count for the forum.
6. View profile from Send PM fixed.
7. New feature, in messages there is a search box up top, which will search for text in messages within the thread.

All of the updates seem to be useful, and from limited testing, they appear to work as well. 😉

Nice work, Jason. 1 (topic summary search) & 7 are welcome additions!

7 is a fantastic idea. At first I thought it was dumb because I can hit "/searchstring" in firefox much faster but then I remembered all the times I went searching through 20 pages of posts looking for a specific term that I knew was somewhere but didn't know what page. Great stuff!! 😀

Edit: one comment on that though. After searching you're filtered down to just the posts with that word. It might be nice if you could unfilter but still keep track of that post so that you can read it in context once you've found it. Right now you have to go back and try to find it based on date (at least as far as I could tell). It'd be cool if you could include a link to the unfiltered page of the thread that contains that post (an anchor to the post in that page would be even cooler but I won't push it 🙂).

Ever since the new update I think it's a pain to do searches in the FS/FT forum.
Sometimes the dates appear ramdomly, or the results are not accurate at all.
Why not leave it the way it was before the updates began?

FS/T order by date descending Automatically. Exactly like they used to. (In the Quick search boxes). If you use the search button Click order by date 🙂
