Code Red II????????

I ran a virus scan the other day online @ symantec.com and it came up with 2 infected files. Both the infected files were labled as virtual root and after some searching I found that this was the code red worm. First of all the virus is on drive C & D (secondary master) which is win98se and then there is E & F (primary master) which is my win2000 drive. Drive D is also part of drive E & F but its fat32 and the other partitions are NTFS on that drive. C is all win98se and there is nothing related to 2000 on it at all but drive D has my I386 files on it but again its fat32. Well what I was wondering is can the virus even be active? I never even boot to the win98 drive so could I just format it and make it an extension of the rest of my 2000 os without it even effecting anything? Further more would I be able to format it using the windows drive management utility? Will the fact that I am dual booting have an effect on any of the previous questions? What I would really like to do is just remove windows 98 but don't want to cause problems for 2000 due to the whole dual boot setup. I don't use any virus programs mainly because I hate NortonAntivirus and McAfee. Are there any other anti virus programs out there that arn't quite so (Whats the word I'm looking for?) bloated. I looked into Panda but can't get a trail version for 2000AS. Well I'm sure that more info may be required so if I left something out please let me know and I really appreciate any help on this. Thanks!
