I have a Plextor PX-716A and I am not able to view the drive from either Explorer or My computer. I also am not able to see it in administrative tools.

I am using Windows 2000 by the way.

The drive was working just fine when I had to reboot for a program and I have Nero 6.6 installed. Once windows came up a Nero dialog box came up and said that the registry key for the CD ROM was corrupt and that it was just letting me know that it fixed it but I would not able to view my drive until I rebooted again.

So I did another reboot and nothing came up but I still was not able to see my CD drive.

Something in Nero screw this up? I can only see the drive through device manager and it states "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)" I have reinstalled the windows drivers and nothing works. It has the drivers so I don't know what its complaining about.

I went to Plextor's website to see if any drivers were available for this device and they stated that the drive uses the standard drivers that windows provides.

No programs can access the drive and the jumpers were not changed. This must be a software related issue.

How can I help you help me with any additional info?

Thanks

Jon

Ok guys I did some searching on the internet and it turns out Nero was complaining about something about the upper and lower filters for the drive. I went into Registry and deleted all the value data, rebooted and got my drive back.

I have no idea what the filters do but obviously they have something to do with certain programs. Go figure.

Thanks for anyone that was going to help. lol
