I figured out the problem, I just can't correct it. It seems like Windows is having problems having two sound devices installed (Audigy 2 and sound device from motherboard). And I get code 10 for my sound card. If I plug my speakers into the motherboard outputs, it works fine. But my SC doesn't work. I've downloaded the most recent Service pack, but that didn't fix it. Any help?

*Yes, I have uninstalled and re-installed BOTH devices.

Windows XP
AMD Athlon XP 2400+
Creative Audigy 2
Nvidea Motherboard

Thanks in advance, guys!

And I'm sorry if this belongs in general hardware. Since it was a problem started by my OS, I thought/think it belongs here.

Depending on which motherboard you have, Id say sell the dam A2 and use the onboard sound but anyways. If you go into the bios there should be a option to disable the onboard sound or you could try going into device manager and disableing it there.

Thanks for the responses guys.

I HAVE tried to disable it in my device manager, that didn't work. I just disabled it in my BIOS (I think I disabled the part that said "Audio Controller," or something. That's the one, right?), and that didn't do anything. :(

It's funny, I've been searching on the forum about the same problems, and though people are giving advice, there doesn't seem to be any resolution. :(

Anyway, after much more work trying to get it to function properly, I have failed. I want to remove the drivers for the onboard sound, but I can't.

Notice how there is no uninstall for the legacy audio controller? :(

God, this stinks!!

I've changed PCI slots already, that didn't work. And I don't know what IRQ ports are, but I did come across that term a couple times. Care to explain?

I usually goto device manger - view - it's under Interrupt request (IRQ)....shows a list of devices and what irq it's on.
