Hello,
My computer running windows xp gives me an error in the device manager. It shows a small yellow circle next to my installed d-link dwl-g510 rev.b wireless pci card. in the dialogue box it says, error: code10 the device cannot start. I have checked a few online resources and forums and have found that hotfixes, service packs, and newer drivers fix this. I have tried updated drivers and all for my card and motherboard chipset.
my motherboard is a gigabyte 965p-ds3 rev 3.3 with the f10 bios or maybe f11 not sure. I've heard that rolling back my bios to a reputable revision for this board may solve some issues. WindowsXP professional has all the latest automatic updates,kb hotfixes installed. The driver for the dlink card seems to be very old, and hasnt been updated in a while. The card works in my other asrock dual-vsta core 2 duo setup, in one of the 5 pci slots on it, but it doesn't work on my gigabyte.
on the gigabyte ive tried: manually installing and reinstalling the drivers and hardware. reformatting xp twice, physically switching the card between pci slots and adding and removing other hardware such as lynksis ethernet cards nic cards, modems, and firewire card. installing the card before sp2 and after sp2. the only thing i know that i have not tried is turning back the motherboard bios to an earlier revision. my motherboard is also overclocked along with the fsb/memory/and cpu. ive tried at my stock speeds, and cleared cmos, and overclocked speeds. no luck. no joy. big pain in the ass for 2 weeks now. ive been reading all the forums and good searches i could find and hanging around the M$ knowledgebase looking for some answers. it may have something to do with irq interrrutp requests - cant allocate them correctly, or somethingin the driver denotating shared or exclusive pci usage.
i know this card works, and xp works, my mobo, but they dont all work in conjunction. Also with my gigabyte i have the same problem with a ieee 1394 4 port firewire card. it cannot start either. same code 10 error message. And i can also not get an ide controller card to recognize my optical drives a dvd and cdrw. okay so anyone with any advice or solutions or reccomendations to my 3 dilemas please respond. here they are:
1. Dlink wireless card not starting in device manager Error code 10: device cannot start.
2. VIA ieee1394 firewire card cannot start, same code10 error.
3. silicon image sil0680 ide controller not recognizing optical drives 12x dvdrw and 40xcdrw
thanks for the help.
