Cod4 Video Lag?

Hey all, just a quick question:

On CoD4 multiplayer, does anyone else get a bit of video lag when theres a lot of stuff on the screen? especially on maps like downpour with the rain.

It reminds me of the lag I used to get on CS (around the 1.0-1.3 days) on my comp that didnt have enough ram and had to do a lot of HDD swapping. you know, the type where it stutters every couple seconds.

Its not THAT bad, but between that and a few small lockup issues, im worried that something might be up with my ps3.

Oh, for the reference im playing at 1080p, 47" westinghouse. I was thinking that might have something to do with it? (the resolution that is).

Any ideas?

I found mine locked up if the room temp was fairly warm i.e. 76f and it was horizontal. It'd be pretty hot under the side that is up when placed vertically, so I set it upright, and it hasn't locked up since. The lag may be connection based, I just got CoD4 2 days ago and have only done some of the SP, so can't comment on MP yet. It does play and look awesome in SP though. 1080p shouldn't cause any stability issues, in and of itself.

Thanks for the reply Punisher.

Hmm, maybe ill try setting it vertically, I didnt think about that. Heat was one of the issues i was thinking of. I'm considering getting one of those intercoolers to see if that helps.

The lag im experiencing definitely isnt connection based, although there is definitely some of that too (especially bullet lag). This definitely looks like a drop in frame rate, not the "walking on ice" feeling.

I was more referring to 1080p and its ability to lessen the framerate of the system (1080p should have less fps than 720p, assuming that it follows the same rules as most pc games). I wasn't really referring to locking up in this case.

Either way, good suggestion with the vertical. That makes a ton of sense and ill try it tonight!
