Fuck all that.. I'm not paying near enough 1/3 of what i bought the game for for a few maps.

I don't like the idea of downloadable content developers are releasing that you have to pay for at all, it should be free, or in the game from the beginning, not another way for developers to make money from the consumer with content that should have been there from the start!

The game was $60 new. The DLC is $10. Not even close to 1/3 the cost.

The game shipped with 16 maps and plenty of multiplayer goodness out of the box. It's not like they purposefully left these maps out of the game so they could charge for them later to increase profits (which some games have done, sadly).

In in the UK, i recently paid around £30 for the game and the DLC is near enough £10..

Fair enough they're releasing new maps.. But I don't think its right to charge that amount of money for them..

Forza 2 car and track packs that cost £5 a pop every few months really irritate me in particular.

I got drunk last night and caved and bought the stupid map pack. I hate myself.

I figure if I paid $12 to park outside a bar I might as well pay $10 for something I will get enjoyment out of.

 Is drinking and Xbox Marketplace / PSN Store / Wii Shop the new drinking and eBaying?

I have and finished the PC version of COD4. I play online occasionally but Punkbuster just sucks. Is this worth getting for the 360? Sorry to hijack the thread. 🙂

If you can get it a good price like Amazon had recently ($35 and $40 shipped), absolutely. There's also a 25% off used 360 games Gamestop in-store coupon in another thread I posted here. That brings COD4 to about $40+ taxes used.

If you are open to playing FPS games on a console (and more specifically, using a controller to do so) then yes, it is certainly worth getting for the 360.

I have been complaing for a long time about KB and mouse support being superior in PC FPS games, but I have become very aclimated to the 360s controller since I have been playing Halo 3 online a lot lately. I thought I would never get it down but now I am pretty good at the controller for FPS and LOVE COD4. So I guess I will be getting this for the 360. 🙂 Thanks for the info guys! Hijackthreadmode set to off. 🙂

This is why maps arent free anymore.

If the market sustains a pay model, then why should they give them out for free? Probably the easiest $10 million Infinity Ward has ever made.

Well, if they do it like Bungie, the map pack will be free in a few months anyway. I don't know what IW is going to do, but I hope they do that 😛

True, but none of it would have (or could have) happened without their efforts on COD4. Good luck trying to make $10 mill on a map pack for The Club or Conflict: Denied Ops.

Heh. Speak of the Devil

Spotted over on Xbox.com UK comes word that new downloadable content for Conflict: Denied Ops is planned and ready for release next Tuesday, April 22nd exclusively through the XBLM. The Denied Ops Eagle Pack DLC will expand the game's multiplayer fun by adding five new multiplayer maps including Lost City, Tank Yard, Sanctuary, Killing Zone, and Adrift. The article makes no mention of DLC pricing, but if we had to take a stab in the dark, we'd say it'd either be cheap (250 MS points) or free (0 MS points). Not that you cared about Denied Ops DLC anyway ...

Ha! Nice, that's pretty funny. Where does Conflict: Denied Ops fall on XBL's Least Played List anyway? 😉

I've played cod4 a ton during christmas break, don't play much anymore. Paid for the map pack 2nd day it came out and though it's only a measly $10. It's so not worth it. The carentan remake is crappy. It's too dark with weird as neon around it. Creek is a huge bore fest it's like a snipers all the time but it you're a sniper you'd like this map. Broadcast is kind of cool. Killhouse, well I've never ever played that as it's too small and not in the rotation

Well ya, that goes without saying.

The maps for COD2 still cost money.

I bet there's heaps of great free maps out there, but everyone will be playing the official ones - such is gaming. I'll probably buy the pack.

Free custom maps are only for the PC, not consoles.

Who said they shouldnt? I didnt, dont put words in my mouth. The fact is, it used to be a free-be for PC users. Now we're paying, because consolers are paying. At least for the official ones. Another reason Im glad I play FPS's on PC's, and not consoles. Free maps, free mods, free total conversion. Glad to see UT3 was still free though, for both PS3 and PC.

Do you guys think the map pack is worth it? Been thinking about buying it for my PS3, I play COD4 quite a bit but am getting sick of playing the same maps over and over.

Debating if i should buy the Map Pack, or just pick up another game instead.

personally i dont think the map designs are great. most people end up skipping them anyway, especially creek and chinatown. but when the maps are played and you havent got them you'll be booted out back to the lobby. you might think you're missing out
