Been playing this game on and off and finally got to this level where you have to protect the injured sniper at the play ground until the chopper comes...

Talk about a soup sandwich...the whole mother russia army is bearing down on you from every angle...it is insane to think that you can hold out for 5 minutes plus...

Oh I forgot the laser guided, heat seeking dogs...

Anyone get past this level without cheating? I have played it probably 50 times, tried hiding, tried going prone and picking them off, gone to the far corner on the left...

There are just too many nades and flash bangs...

i don't remember which difficulty i played it on, but i beat it by hiding behind the tree thats between your sniper partner and the ferris wheel. it was still tough, but i took way less damage that way.

it took me many, many, many tries to get past it before i did that though.

Yeah it probably took me that many tries, definitely the hardest part of the game, especially because at first you have no idea where to put your claymores.

I think what I ended up doing was hiding just to the left of the ferris wheel and tried to kill as many as I could coming down the ropes, you can get every guy from one of the choppers and a couple from another(there are 3 choppers I think) maybe more if you are uber leet.

You can hold for a bit and prioritize the closest guys first otherwise they will bum rush you.

Towards the end I retreated to where I put my partner down and prayed a lot, but I *just* made it.

I will have to try that spot...I tried putting claymores all over the right side so they couldn't flank but that seems to be hopeless.

I can get two of the three choppers as they are dropping down but that doesn't really help that much because the next waves just replace their positions (flanking from Left and Right).

It seems to me that you have to lead the enemy when shooting them...having the scope directly on them always misses for me. I have to be in front of them to get a kill shot which messes me up most of the time cause they zip zag so much.

I even tried camping in one of those little buildings by the ferris wheel but it is like Joe Montana is tossing nades at you from 50 feet away. Always dropping right in the window and no matter how fast I am jamming on that "Toss Nade Back" button then damn thing blows up and kills me.

Not to mention the Resident Evil Dogs that know exactly where you are at all times...

I beat the game on veteran and that mission is very doable.

I sniped the soldiers from the helicopters, and then grabbed the AKs. I then ran all the way to the right, behind the building and fences. I promptly sniped with AK some more through the cracks of the fence, and then waited around the corner of the building. Kill the dogs and soldiers as they come for you around the building. Very easy this way.

I ran out of sniper ammo and had to switch to AKs. Head shots in single round clicks from the AK are just as good as the sniper rifle from a moderate distance.

That's what I did too. I played this level around 100 times.

Run forward and to the right, grab an AK on the way, and hang out around the corner of the building. No one will notice you over there, 1 dog MIGHT come for you, but most of the time they'll go for your buddy. Then just wait for the chopper to land.

I'm stuck on the god damn silo mission. I hate it. :|

I thought the idea was to protect that guy? Is he invulnerable or something? Surely the baddies can kill him and the mission will fail??

I tried that last night as well, hiding behind that fence to the right...furthest I got with that route was killing the damn dogs...but then the nades and flash bangs kicked in and they just camped on the other side of that fence waiting for me...eventually the nades got to me. I might have to try that again though only with the AK vs. the sniper rifle.

Yeah, your buddy sniper is a warlock and bullets don't hit him. Too bad you can't use him as a shield, because all darn Russians are trying to kill you, not him.

I hid behind the wheel as well, this way you can deal with one guy at a time, and have little jogging space to run away from nades.

I hid on top of the ferris wheel which you can see the enemies coming. Put claymores everywhere around it. Took me 3 tries on normal settings.

I tried fighting 'em off a few times, but it's just too hard (I did it on Hardened). I ended up hiding behind the bumper cars. The bad guys will eventually start coming back to you, but it's easy to pick 'em off as they come.

On normal I cleared it 2nd time through. Don't recall any dogs though. Claymores are best on the right as they don't really approach on the left.

Scatter a few C4s in the open area where the first wave walk in, plant some claymores near the broken short fences. Once the first patrol spawn, wait for most of the guys are near your c4s, snipe one and they'll all go prone like idiots, blow them up, pick up an AK or RPK, claymores and Cpt. MacMillian should take care of more than half of the 2nd wave, finish them off, go toward the choppers and shoot guys as they rappel down, should be able to kill around 2-3 squads. Then just run back behind the bumpercar platform and drop more claymores along the way, also plant 1 or 2 c4s on the ferris wheel, AIs like to go there.

Once you're crouched behind this spot it should be very difficult for bullets to hit you even on Veteran, just use peak to take quick shots and listen very carefully for grenades.
The objective is to survive for certain amount of time, there's no need to kill them all.

Very difficult on veteran setting, but it can be done. I did it (eventually) by

1. Completely leaving my buddy to his own devices. Certainly don't worry about protecting him. He's Scottish, which means he's made out of steel and bricks rather than flesh and bone.

2. Plant the Claymore's close to your poisition, so that they save you at the last minute. No point in parking them at choke points imho as they wind up going of when you aren't really in trouble. They guys who get you on that mission are the ones who get through the choke points and wind up shooting you from extreme close range.

3. Get an AK. Or some sort of machine gun. The sniper rifle is ok but towards the end of the time period there is no way you have time to take a steady aim sniper shot without getting killed

4. You must have solid cover. The only thing that provides this is the mini office box thing at the bottom of the Ferris wheel. Snipe in the open early on and then retreat to that when things get hairy. You can then pick them off with the AK as they come around the sides

5. Save your nades to the end, when there'll be loads of them in the middle of the park

6. Remember, at the end it is literally impossible to hold the park. They will overwhelm you no matter how good you are with the rifle. The last 45 seconds or so are just about staying hidden and picking off the ones who get line of site on you quickly

7. It can all get undone by an unlucky grenade. If that happens you just have to shrug and start again. Throw em back if you can but at the end retreating from behind cover to get out of blast radius means walking into a blizzard of lead anyway. Death either way.

8. When the chopper arives at the end give them a while to repell the hoards. Having the thing arive and then getting pinged as you run to it is hella frustrating

Good luck. It can be done.

Don't just camp behind the fence, you have to move back and forth, from the fence to the building (bumper cars?). Snipe some, go back to the bumper cars, kill some more coming for you, etc.

I got through it after about 8 hours.
I hate those dogs. Sometimes I could head shot them, other times if I tried to break their necks, my timing would be off :(

I also didn't like how the radioactive areas worked. sometimes you could walk in an area without problems, then other times you were hurt.

I found hiding in one of the ticket booths and crouching when needed to work.
Also placing lots of c4 near where they come out from the buildings, waiting for them all to mass and then detonating.

I finally beat it by laying down on the right side (looking out towards all of the enemy) of the ferris wheel plateform. This cuts down on the number of angles they can kill you from and almost takes away all of their angles to kill you except when they come directly to your right and behind you. Also, place claymores on the steps and before the steps leading up to the platform and keep track of how many you lay down and how many blow... once they are all blown up you know you have to watch for them coming up the stairs because that is where they will get you...

Also, try to kill the guys on the far left out of heli's first then concentrate on the middle helicopters and kill as many as you can coming between the two buildings in the middle as you look out... aside from heli's this is where they come from and spread around the right building if you can cut them down then you less to worry about on your right...

Use AK!!!

The same here - I replayed the sniper mission a few times, mostly because of that one .50 cal shot. I wish besides the final airplane save-the-VIP level, the game developers gave us a level with targets at 1 mile away to hit with a .50 cal rifle.

In MP this rifle is worthless, unfortunately.
