Can you recommend settings? I haven't been able to find any tweak guides.

edit: I think it's the AA. Turning that off helped. Can't even do 2xAA (50fps). Does that sound right for my card (OC in sig)?

Thanks.

That does seem a bit low.

A rough comparison maybe, but a fairly recent AT article has the 8800GT pulling down 52fps at 1920x1200 4x AA. I'm not sure on settings but I believe they would run with High/max settings unless stated otherwise. The CPU used in the test is probably a bit faster but I don't think it could account for the difference. Unless the 9800GT is significantly slower than the 8800GT?

One thing you can try is run in SM2.0:

seta r_rendererPreference "Shader Model 2.0"

Though in your case I would not bother as AA is basically last in my book; I wouldn't sacrifice other things for it. But you could try it. The graphics still look great. I rocked it when I had my 7800GT and needed a little boost to stay smooth at 1680x1050.

sounds like it might be a little less than what you should get, but not much. try the new driver.

I'm running 178.13 (latest whql).
On the contrary, according to that link, I'm getting just what I should be getting it looks like.

I've almost finished the game by now (single player is way short!), so I guess I'll just turn off shadows like in the link a few posts above, and finish it off. 4xAA didn't make a huge difference once I got used to it.

Great graphics, really fun game (although too short). I'll have to see how the multiplayer pans out.

Thanks~

Drop your resolution 2 notches. You won't notice after 5 minutes of playing, and you should be getting a rock solid 60-70FPS.

I ran COD4 using HD3870 (with E8400 in Windows XP) and I was able to hoover around 50-60fps at 1920x1200, all details, no AA.

would it be his processor since its not a normal conroe based. I know most say its hard to be cpu limited , but when my cpu is running 2.0 ghz compared to 3+ghz i feel that im in the red zone in cod a little more often in a big server. So maybe his lack of cache is the reason even though its clocked very high.
