COD4 Prestige - Did you complete all challenges before going Prestige?

I've been on level 55 for a few weeks now (playing sporadically), trying to get all the challenges completed before I go prestige and start all over again.

Did you complete all the challenges before going prestige? Or did you just go when it was available?

I hit prestige as soon as the option was available.

I don't see the point of completing challenges at 55 when you don't receive any experience points that you're supposed to get and going prestige later on. Either hit up prestige right away or stay at 55 and get those golden guns. 🙂

Edit: I'm on my 9th prestige, slowly working my way up to that golden cross!

What resets when you prestige? Is it just your guns and ranks or do the challenges actually restart as well?

All the challenges restart too, including the marksman/expert ones for the guns. But, you do still have access to all the game modes.

I went straight to prestige, because I knew I'd lose all of the challenges once I reset it. When I'm at the point where I don't think I'll make it through another prestige (which is probably now), I'll focus on challenges.

I did a few of 'em but after a while it's no longer fun. I'd rather play the game for the enjoyment rather than making it a job.

I did one prestige and like others have said, I did it as soon as it was available because the you don't get anything for completing the other challanges

Completing every single challenge after each Prestige would take forever/be a waste of time. Either complete all the challenges and don't prestige or wait till you get to Prestige 10 to finish up all the challenges.

If you KNEW you wanted to do prestige, then do it immediately. If you're unsure or are leaning towards just staying at 55 for now do the challenges.

Well I'm almost done, have a few more headshots to do and need to win 15 or so more Search & Destroy matches, but i'm almost there.

When I hit 55 the first time out I stayed there (not to complete challenges, just to keep my weapons/perks). Next time through though I'll probably just prestige right out of the gate though.

I like working towards new guns and such, it's fun. Sitting around trying to get 100 headshots with a sniper rifle (I'm a TERRIBLE sniper...) doesn't do much for me.

I'm not going prestige. It's only good for showing off how "awesome" you are to the other people playing, and when 99% of the people playing are 12-year-olds with ADHD, I really don't care what they think of me. In fact, if those people think I'm cool, I'm doing something wrong.

I was going to ask exactly what the point of "Prestige" was, since I only play it on PC.
So it really IS just like an asterisk next to your name indicating that you've already gone up to level 55 and then started over? Nothing else?

Yep, that's exactly it. Instead of having a rank insignia next to your name, you have one of ten different prestige medals. It has no effect on the game.

Some people like to do it because it lets them start over and give more attention to early weapons and perks, but I don't level up very fast. I got to 55 on PC a long time ago but on the 360 I'm still at 36 or something.

Prestige does actually serve some purpose because it is the only way console players can redo the multiplayer leveling process. Prestige doesn't exist for the PC because there you can just create a new account if you want to level to 55 again. That said for most people prestige is just a way to grow your epeen.

I do prestige mode b/c having my challenges reset and my level back to 0 gives me some kind of goal to work towards.

Once I'm 55 w/ all things unlocked, it can get repetitive after awhile going through the motions.
