COD4. Latest patch, now my stats are reset?

I back up my players directory on my hd.
After I updated to patch 1.7, I log in, and the game says there is an error with my stats, and that they have been reset.

If I copy over my player directory, and overwrite the one in the game directory, same things happens. How do i get my stats back??
It says an error occurred while reading stats info.

You backed up your multiplayer data correct? If so it should just be a matter of copying that file and rewriting the new one that got messed up when you updated to 1.7. Did you get 1.6 and all the other patches before installing 1.7? Your post is a tad confusing so maybe you could clarify.
