So what are you guys using for your CoD4 MP builds? What weapons and attachments? What perks?

I seem to always use the MP5 or M4 with red dot sight, stun or flash nades, stopping power, and deep impact. sometimes I switch out deep impact to the one that gives you better hip-fire accuracy. Occasionally I'll try juggernaut but it doesn't seem to help me out very much.


Here's a question though, if you use the m16, does it kill in 1 burst to the chest? What if you use stopping power? A guy in another forum is saying one burst from an m16 will kill anyone. He says if you use stopping power it will also kill someone using juggernaut in 1 burst.

i haven't seen that happen. every time i used it, it required 2 bursts, thats without juggernaut and without stopping power.

Can you attach things and modify your gun? I am getting CoD4 for X-mas, but can you do stuff like that in the MP?

Like put a reflex on your AK-47, etc. etc.?

yes, but you have to unlock them and you can only use 1 attachment at a time.
you can get a reflex sight, an acog sight, or a silencer. you can also get a m203 launcher on some of the guns.

some things remove the use of other things to "balance" it all out though.
one stupid "balance" is that the acog scope lowers your range.

Yes you can modify your gun a bit. As you accomplish challenges it unlocks the ability to put on certain attachments.

I ran with an Ak47 + red dot scope for awhile. But now running with the M4 with iron sites until the scope is unlocked. I vary between grenade launcher and 3xstun nades.

Otherwise I like stopping power and deep impact. But hip accuracy is also nice if you are expecting close quarter fights.

I am only lvl 16 so my talents and weapons availabiltiy is limited.

Edit: About the M16, I didnt seem to find 1 burst kills people to the chest. Maybe to the head. But when I used the M16 I also sucked really bad. Now I only suck moderately bad.

how do you get 3 frags? is that a perk?

Yeah actually the M-16 is the best weapon in the game. Some of the others are cool and fun to use but overall m-16> everything. It is accurate and will drop anyone.

It's different. No vehicles to use, smaller maps, more intense. I like the M60 with a red dot sight or an M16 with a red dot. I just unlocked the ACOG for the M4 though; gotta see how that is.

If all three connect to the chest, its likely. You'll have to be at a very close distance to pull that off thoughy. It usually takes me two good bursts with the M16 to down someone at the kind of distance it makes sense to be using the M16 it. Its not a short range weapon by any means.


Short Range:
MP5 + Silencer + Quick Reload + Steady Aim + 3x Flash = Good for close quarters matches.

MiniUzi + Silencer + Quick Reload + Steady Aim + 3x Flash = Good for even closer quarters matches/insane 32man free for all.

I find the red dot scope to be completely unnecessary with a SMG - if you need the added accuracy it may provide, you shouldnt be using a SMG. The acog scope is also likewise even more useless. Silencer does the trick for it.

Stun grenades are great and all, but even stunned enemies can shoot back. Flash guarantees that they cant see you, so they cant shoot you.

Fast reload and steady aim are necessities for close quarters fighting.


Medium Range:
M4 Carb + Nade launcher + Stopping power + Last stand + 3x stun.

Iron sights are more than good enough for med range. Stun grenades keep them still so I can shoot them. Stopping power makes sure they go down quick. Last stand makes sure I finish the job if I get downed. When I get the G36C I'll prob switch to it.


Med-Long
M16 + Red Dot + Inc. Fire Rate (Double Tap) + Last Stand + 3x Stun.

The M16 is quite accurate at long distances, the red dot scope allows you to home in on a far away enemy precisely without blocking the surroundings. Being that it takes two good bursts to nail someone, increased fire rate makes sure that happens before they have a chance to respond. If I get stuck fighting someone close range, Ill prob do enough damage that a pistol shot or two will finish them off, hence the last stand.

Its unbelievable how deadly the M16 is in this configuration at med-long range if you can aim. I'd also prefer extra frags over stuns, but I dont have that yet.


Sniper rifles are useless because theyre so inaccurate and zoom too far. LMGs are for noobs who only know how to spam. Shotguns have nothing on SMGs.

m16 is pretty good in normal play. it freakin owns in hardcore mode! just 1 burst and they always go down!

i did pretty well with it on 3 vs. 3 s&d in hardcore mode also. really ranked up the points there because i was always the one to plant or defuse the bomb.

over 1700 points at the end!

Yes. I forget what rank I got it. You should be able to see it on your list. It's one of the Perk 1 options.

I don't agree with either of those statements.

The LMG is a support weapon. You can use it to suppress areas (like on HQ).

I guarantee that I will run right through you with a M1014 so I don't know what you mean that they "have nothing" on an SMG.

I had good success with the AK + red dot + stopping + deep penetration. I tried the scope but found it isnt as good as red dot.

the ak seems to have a lot more recoil than the others. its not as accurate either. it works pretty well for close up hip shots.

i was watching some videos about the perks last night. it showed comparisons of some of them, like double tap and sleight of hand. double tap looks friggin sweet! it sucks that all the awesome perks are all under the same slot. i guess thats for balance though

i already have a hard time deciding what to use.

After trying the M16 again, have to say it is pretty good. Only time it sucks is when you are in close quarters. The burst puts you at a disadvantage compared to a fully auto.

For a submachine gun at close range, absolutely. The biggest threat of dying you will have is running out of bullets before you can kill them. As long as you can keep the spray on them, they will have a hard time hitting you.

At long ranges, youll have plenty of time to duck behind something to reload, so stopping power or double tap would be more beneficial.

Its really made for aggressive players. If youre the type to push right at someone, take them down, then immediately move on to the next person without delay, you'll want it. If youre going to hang back and wait for them to come to you, or move around to try to get an angle on them, youre better off with stopping power or even double tap at close range.

The only real defensive use it has is to make the reloading of LMGs take a reasonable time, but I very rarely see LMGs used properly in a defensive manner.

Stopping power makes your bullets hurt a wee bit more, and juggernaut gives you a wee bit more strength. Sleight of hand is like insane triple speed reload.

Im gonna try sleight of hand tonight. Will it reload my knife faster? LOL I hate it that you cant slice multiple people at once. I am a knife champion! I average 2+ knifes per death.

M4+silencer=ownage. My friends hate me cause they cant locate me if I shoot them. I just use extra ammunition, increased bullet and deeper impact. Looks like for CAL perks may be limited to those and a few useless others(unless your a sniper) so I practice with what ill compete with. I know a lot of guys are enjoying there mp5 with scope though. I cant put a scope on a m4/m16/ak47 it actually messes me up.
In scrims/matches I dont use the silencer on certain maps so I can keep my range. Also a burst of the m16 will wreck anyone u register the bullets with. If u can get a full burst on someone it should be able to do the trick as long as perks arent in the way. Someone expiremented with how many bullets it takes where. I know head shots it was said to be 1.5-2 shots and I think body was like 3. I dont know what factors that had though.

I dont think so. I find a nice pullout of a desert eagle is more then enough to finish what a clip cant.

Ill agree the G3 is a beast but I dont think in close combat someone with a G3 would beat me. but thats just me personally im cocky and good ;). Right now im trying out the sniper pistol combo to work on aim. I dont camp with it I run around and use it as is. I played with some invite teams and these guys can do some amazing things with them.

If you have ever watched a CS match some of the guys use sniper rifles almost exclusively. There reaction is great most of em will scope and shoot you even get your sights on them. PM me with your xfire(if you have it) well play some.
