the 'regenerating health' is just as realistic as finding random crates of bandages to heal bullet wounds...

anyways, it adds a lot to the flow of the game, just playing and not having to hunt the nooks and crannys for little green crates. I'm on veteran and get owned enough that it still presents a challenge

Is there an FPS that simulates the effects of wounds? For example, slower movement, impaired vision, poorer aim . . . That would be interesting, but probably not good for gameplay.

There was an old game i played a few years ago on the computer. Deus Ex had what you were talking about. Check it out, i think you can find it for 3 bucks now.

Goose, you just gotta make your X800 XL WORK!! I too had a 9800 Pro, sold it, and bought my X800 XL PCI-E. Quake 4 is very playable at 1280x1024 all settings maxed.

It hasn't pwned my "PC"...Xbox 360 FTW!

I love how some of the people who whine about games owning their rigs are the same people who whine about console gaming (not saying that's you Goose.)

I'm loving COD2. 😀

How did it "own" your PC?

like 5fps...

<---crazy fool

1600x1200, all settings to max, x800xl

'nuff said🙁

LOL

I *had* an X800XL but after playing the COD2 demo I ditched it for an XFX7800GT

Americas Army does

Well.. My machine can run the demo at 800x600 on medium settings just fine. I have a 9800 Pro also. But thats not my system bottleneck. Its the 1.8GHz cpu and 512 memory thats slowing me down. Don't really have the funds to get another computer right now either.

I liked CoD, but the "Magical Regenerating Health" makes me not want to pick up the second one.

That was actually part of the real game?😕

lol...I thought it was a demo-thing.

lol

Magical healing medkits aren't that realistic either.

Is reading comprehension simply not taught in schools anymore?
I never said anything about realistic. It is about the challenge.
Where is the the challenege in simply hiding and healing up to full health?
In the good old days of Doom I there was a part of a level where you come off an elevator into a room full of imps, getting onto the elevator I had 25 health 7 shotgun ammo and a few bullets. I played right there until I was good enough to get out of the elevator without being torn to shreds right away. That is challenging a gamer, duck and heal up magicaly is not.

Action Quake, for Quake 2. You would get killed from a head shot, gimped from leg shots, and bleed to death. You could only bandage yourself to prevent death from bleeding. I think it was remade for Q3 under Reaction Quake.

Yeah, I have a 9800Pro(128mb) and it gets the job done but then I have a gig of dual channel ram and my P4 HT Northwood @3.45GHz. This game heats up the old cpu like no other game except the original COD. COD2 = CPU intensive.

This comes into play in Americas Army (free) as well as a few other games that are excaping my right now...

In AA a bullet wound can cause any number of things ranging from death due to bleeding out (if not treated by a medic), slower movement, decreased accuracy, etc... Pretty cool for a free game.
