CoD:MW2 single player won't launch

CoD:MW2 single player simply will not launch. I can play MP all day long, but I was in the mood to do some spec ops and tried to run the single player and it simply does not start. All it does is pop up the regular steam window of "Preparing to launch Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2..." and sometimes in the steam window it will say something about syncing the files but it jumps from 0% to 100% Ready immediately and the Preparing to launch window goes away and nothing happens. I did recently reformat my OS partition, but all other steam games work, and it is especially odd since MP works without issue.

I've googled all I can about this and can't find anything, there is nothing in my event logs, not sure where to troubleshoot next

Did you try "Verify integrity of game cache"?

It might come up with a file missing which it can download.

hrm, ran it and it said all files had been verified successfully then the game ran without issue... thanks!
