Like the title says, I am trying to decide which game to purchase. I have looked at the reviews for both titles and they are both reviewed highly. I have also seen both on youtube and they both look like fun.

Which one would you choose and why?

Thanks

Do you want to focus on single or multiplayer? Crysis 2 has a good single player and the multiplayer is decent but didn't hold my interest. CoD games have okay single player campains but most people get sucked into the multiplayer side pretty easily.

Also Black Ops is still $60 as it's the latest CoD game. The next one is coming up in November so I don't see much point paying that when it's just going to be surpassed in a couple months. You could either wait for a price drop on BO or just get the newest one.

Thanks.. good points. I probably prefer single player for a couple of reasons. First of all, I am way past the 13 year old stage so I tend to get hammered by the kiddies who have hands and fingers that move so fast that they are a blur. Multiplayer is fun but not when you are getting ganked or spawn killed 1000 times for every time I kill another player.

What he said. Crysis 2 for single player, multiplayer is rather forgettable. Also if you have the rig to run it, the game is GORGEOUS with the enhanced packs released with DX11 support.

Black Ops if you like multiplayer. Single player was pretty pathetic. Even then, the multiplayer is very arcady run and gun style.

The good thing about the Crysis 2 single player campaign is that there are many ways to tackle each level, and you can literally see completely different parts of the level depending the path you take.

It's gorgeous, especially with the upgrades.

Also, the suit modifications can really change the way you tackle each level. And many of the upgrades you can't get until a few play throughs.

For instance, your first play through, your suit will be bare bones, which will factor into how you approach levels. Then when you get upgrades, you can really fork off into certain directions of builds. If you want to be a ninja, you can really mod your suit up to be very silent. With that you can approach almost every level in a covert, stalker way.. sneaking up behind people and silently killing them. Downside? If you get caught out in the open, you might get wasted.

On the flip side, you can build yourself up to be a tank. You won't be so quiet, so you'll have to brute force your way through many of the levels. The nice with this is you can run into a big open area and just stomp people, and you're much harder to kill than you would be if you were built up with the cloak features.

I'll also add my voice for Crysis 2. I have both and had more fun playing Crysis 2 than Black ops single or multi player. I bought Crysis 2 about 3 weeks ago for $30 and was able to run it with all the graphic upgrades that have come out since it's release. It looks great and was fun to play, much more so than black ops single player. Also, it's around 3 or 4 hours longer than black ops single player. For me, Crysis 2 felt much more like a traditional FPS where Black ops felt more like an interactive michael bay type movie. Still, I wouldn't pay more than $30 for Crysis 2 unless you have a new video card you really want to show off.

Black ops multi player is better but you have a lot of people playing who have memorized every map and know the ins and outs of the best weapons/gear. You'd be better off waiting 3 month for MW3 if you wanted a call of duty game.

Crysis 2 is a turd. I'm still amazed at all the good impressions it gets, but the SP couldn't be any more boring. People like to criticize Crysis 1, but at the very least it had a coherent story and multiple tactical options. Crysis 2 likes to give you the illusion of choice, but it is just as much of a corridor shooter as the Call of Duties.

I also hated the multiplayer, and while it took some of it's SP concepts (suit abilities), it's still by and large a copy of COD's MP.

That's just my experience though. I ended up having a ton more fun with Black Ops, and I'm still bitter about what Crytek did to the Crysis series.

Great, I'm replaying Crysis 1 and Warhead before giving Crysis 2 a go. Crysis 1 still looks great I must say. I only like Single player anyway.

If you're going to replay Crysis you might give a few mods a try to take the visuals even further (if you haven't already).

Rygel's High-Res texture pack should be required (also get Silent's High-Res Foliage pak).

XZero's POM / AF lighting mod makes a very big difference.

Those 3 mods alone really take the visuals up a notch. You might try the Advanced AI mod as well, to really change things up. It's got a few bugs, but it generally makes enemies more aware and aggressive.

Crysis 2 had a decent single player, online in my experience was the same as ops online.

Camping infestation it was even worst in Crysis 2 as people would abuse the cloak mode and camp with it.

My vote would be for Ops over Crysis 2 any day based on single player.
