CoD Black Ops not playable until 11am ET tomorrow?

I'm planning to go to the midnight release tonight for Black Ops and I noticed that Steam says the game isn't playable for another 13 hours. Since the game need to be run through Steam, will it be playable at midnight tonight if I buy a retail copy? Thanks for any clarification.
 
You will probably have to wait until it unlocks via Steam since it uses Steamworks and cannot be installed without activating through Steam.
 
Previously, the retailers kicked up about Steam releasing first so it was lagged by a day. Sounds like more of the same.
 
Well Steam stats show BO multiplayer being the 2nd most popular game being played right now. Are these only from people who bought the retail package which I assume connects to steam like MW2?
 
Interesting but 13 hours means Nov 9th still so its all good. Is there any place you all found it for cheaper then 60 dollars ,, free shipping, I want to buy the BOX cuz I aint paying 60 dollars just for the steam version. I want a nice box with it and manual and nice DVD.. heheh

Well bad news. You don't get a nice box, it's a boring DVD case. You don't get a manual, it's only a few pages and doesn't cover anything interesting or useful, and the DVD is probably eventually gonna get scratched.

I got the "box", but only because I can register it with Steam, free shipping and $20 preorder points.
