I just bought a case of stuff last week and the stuff is strong.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18537394/

From the article

The FDA cited as evidence the drink?s labeling and Web site, which included the statements ?Speed in a Can,? ?Liquid Cocaine? and ?Cocaine ? Instant Rush.? The company says Cocaine contains no drugs and is marketed as an energy drink. It has been sold since last August in at least a dozen states.

?Of course, we intended for Cocaine energy drink to be a legal alternative the same way that celibacy is an alternative to premarital sex,? Ivey said. ?It?s not the same thing and no one thinks it is. Our product doesn?t have any cocaine in it. No one thinks that it does. We think it is most likely legal in the United States to ship our product.?

I love that qoute

Oh sure, but "Coke," which at one time DID contain cocaine, is allowed to keep its name.

Crazy people. If anyone's stupid enough to say, "Gee, this Cocaine drink isn't bad, I think I'll go try the real thing," then they not only deserve what's coming to them, but I think they'd have wound up using street drugs anyway.

Indeed, Jeff... Coke committed a national level crime for a while when cocaine was deemed illegal back in the day.

I am assuming since they helped save our corn fields.... they get a free pass.

Hello McFly, COCA-COLA, they've been selling it for decades. AFAIK they are still using coca leaves for flavoring , with the cocaine removed (supposedly). I would like to see an extremely sensitive machine used to detect cocaine test some coca cola and see if any cocaine could be detected.

If you read the article, you'll see that it was not the name that resulted in the FDA warning...it was the marketing.

I had a can of this stuff on Saturday night. Really, really strong. It tasted disgusting.... probably the worst drink I've ever had.

It was the company's decision, not an FDA order.

Have you tried Red Bull's? They taste like an extremely strong cherry medicine flavor mixed with carbonation and lots of sugar.

Oh, no kidding,...and Clegg Ivey's comments in the article reek of phony victim-hood.

Apparently not as stupid as you are.

Today, the flavoring is still done with kola nuts and the "spent" coca leaf. In the United States, there is only one plant (in New Jersey) authorized by the Federal Government to grow the coca plant for Coca-Cola syrup manufacture.[7]

I plan to keep my 2 unopened cans (1 cut and 1 uncut) until I can make millions off of their rarity

And as we all know, Wikipedia is an infallible source.

Let's see some references. The reference at the wiki leads to some page (a college students class project?) which says that Coca-Cola still uses the leaves, but I can't find any official admission by the company which says any such thing, and that pages references aren't linked so I can't refer to them.

Coke originally had Cocaine in it back in the day.

That was even before MY time, hard as THAT may be to believe! ;)

Well, the original recipe used it. And they claim their recipe is the same. They just don't want to admit to it and cause a huge pr firestorm. Their recipe is secret.
Maybe the name will give you a clue- Why would it be called coca-cola?

Look, if there was ANY detectible level of cocaine in Coca-Cola, don't you think some ambitious reporter would have blared the news all over the country sometime in the last, oh, 100 years or so?

Be realistic. Their recipe might be secret, but that doesn't mean any of 10,000 different labs couldn't analyze the product and determine if there was cocaine present.

That plant in New Jersey is the place where they manufacture "natural and artificial flavors." So they use the coco plant to extract the flavor compounds, just going by common sense. I don't know why companies try and keep the recipe so "secret." Anyone with half a brain cell and can read an ingredient list knows almost all processed products have these flavorings.

I'm betting coco-cola has zero cocaine, because that plant extracts the flavor compounds only.

That name has been around for a hundred years. Who HONESTLY thinks it has cocaine in it? Everyone in the world (pretty much) knows better.
