CobraIce?

seaquake

Senior member
Anyone know what happened? His units were not included in S@NL's stats last night and they dropped by 500K. Hopefully, it isn't something drastic.

:Q

We re-recruited him back to Team Anandtech. Be afraid. Be very afraid. :Q

Psych 😀
😉😉 Don't I wish.....

Well we did give him a VERY NICE Congratulations thread just recently! 😀

Maybe..hopefully...he will come home...soon.....to TA! 😀

So CobraIce used to crunch for TA? I didn't know that.
If he is shopping for a team he will make a lot of the top 10 teams nervous!
🙂

He had created a new seperate account and was contributing to Team Anandtech up until an unfortunate incident a while back. He had kept his total WUs at S@NL. 🙂

I believe he pulled that TA account when he left. 🙁

There's a big thread on their forum. I can't read Dutch, so I have no idea what they were discussing.

Michael

I looked at SETI@NL's team list at Berkeley. He would have been on the top of their team roster with the number of WU's he had, but he is not there. 🙁

I know someone who's been in contact with Tim and he did leave the S@N team. I'm not sure of the reasons behind the split but I'm sure he has his reasons. We were wondering how long it would take for someone to notice he left. 😉

Tim (CobraICE) was a member of TA but an unfortunate series of events caused him to get banned for life by the Anandtech mods. It got pretty ugly for a while. If you want a good explanation of the happenings give our guy Smokeball a PM and I think he'll cut/paste an excellent summary of what happened.

BTW, please don't ask if he's coming back to TA. He can't. The mods banned him and unless they lift the ban he can't be a (legal) member of our forums. Kind of hard to be a team member if he can't read/post here legally. 🙁 Tim is a cool guy and (with or without his 500K+ WU's) I think he'd be a very valueable member of the team if the mods would allow him to come back.

Why don't we start a nicely worded thread in Forum issues, show our support for the past to be put behind us and go and kindly ask that he be given a new start.?

That's a good idea, Paulson was banned and they let him back, he was even given "Elite" status recently.

That sounds like a good project for Engineer or Smokeball.

I agree. It would be best if composed by one of the senior DC elite members.

More than for the WU production, it would be nice for him to be able to answer his own posts. I know for everyone here that he IS still a teammate whether it is reflected in the team roster or not.

Whether he wants to crunch for TA or not, I still think we should approach the mods and see what we can do.

Is this even in the realm of being possible, or are we dreaming? Never-the-less, I'm going to keep crunching away...

I wouldn't mind Cobra being able to post here, but I say stay away from "poaching" S@N's largest member until they work out whatever is causing the problem. I know that we would have been highly annoyed if another team went after our big guns when they left recently and I think we should extend the same courtesy by not recruiting Cobra's big account.

Please note that Cobra would be subject to the same rules we all are, which includes the possibility of getting posted edited, threads locked, or threads deleted. I think the modding here has returned to the former "light modding" ways of the past. I also think we have not needed more mod attention, so we've kept up our side of the bargain.

I agree, Michael. It's entirely up to Cobra about what happens to the BIG account. I don't think we should pressure him into anything regarding that. As for the "Lite" account that he had with the TeAm before he was banned, I think that would be worth lobbying for by one of the TeAm's elite members. Even his "Lite" account was one of the top producing accounts on the TeAm.

It would be great to have Cobra back! 😀

Well, it seems he has the same problem with S@NL. CobraIce has been banned from their forums.
They even say it's the first ban in the history of the S@NL forums.
After that a number of threads has been deleted from the forum, because they "weren't a good advertisement for seti@nl"
So it's difficult to find out what's really happened, but what I know from the past is this:
(This is my own opinion, formed by what I have read at the s@nl forum)
Cobra has a lot of WU's and he thinks that gives him special rights, so he's always on the edge of what's allowed and what isn't.
(For instance with using abusive language. If he later says: "I didn't mean it like that" , people want to believe that because of his amount of WU's)
Every time he wants to do something, he proposes an idea and expects (not asks) the other members to follow this idea. That way he tries to control the whole team. As soon as people start to object, he says something like: I don't wanna leave, but.....
This way he keeps a positive image for all the ideas, but in fact is blackmailing the whole team with his WU's.

Maybe Smokeball can tell me what happened at this forum, but I expect it to be kind of the same.

<< Or even better, let's start a Very Nicely worded campaign to get him to join Team Starfire! >>

Geez when will their site be back up!!!
