I have one of these guys, actually its grandfather. Its a cool little gadget. Its not a one stop cop stopper, you still need a little common sense and know how to read it. They work particularly well in highway situations with trucks where you can pick up some of the stray radar from the truck. And they are especially fun if someone else has a cheapy, it'll usually set thiers into a frenzy while remaining sane for you. Really good deal I paid 100 buckaroo's for mine.

If you look at the FAQ, it says 90% of their stuff is new. If it's refurbished, the model # will have an (R) next to it. Well, the model # here is: ESD6050(R)

So refurbished, that's why the price is so good.

Yea it should... Down here in FL most of the cops use K and KA band, which this one will detect just fine...

Yea, almost all detectors detect all the bands. The only thing that varies is their accuracy and distance of the detection. If a detector warns you 50 feet before the cop, it dosent help too much. Anyway, im not really sure of the quality of this particular one, but Cobra is definately a good brand. Not as good as companies like Valentine One and some of the top Passport models (Both are over $350) but these should do the trick. I have a Whistler 1660 (~$120) and it works great. Has a dot matrix readout and a digital voice. Its also pretty damn accurate for my needs. Granted, its alot more expensive than the one in this deal though.

I've bought an item from these guys before. Didn't do too well with an email i sent (till this day never got a reply) but i ended up buying from them a $10 police scanner. It was sent fast and works ohkay. It was refurb too....but looked pratically new. Not sure if it works like new (have yet to hear a good signal from it...but what can i expect for $10:-/)

regardless of whether or not the merchant's a good one, stay away from that POS so-called radar detector. they're pretty crappy and have very limited detection range. if you're looking for a good one, SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!!! get an escort 8500 or bel 980! these low-end cobras aren't worth the packaging they come in IMO.

I agree that this model is not a very good one, therefore this is not
a good deal (could make you feel confident and then contribute to
a ticket).

Anyone have any experience with the Rocky Mountain Radar Phaser II
radar/laser jammer and detector?

I purchased a Cobra ESD-9100 radar detector and handheld walkie talkie from them a couple of months back. The radar detector had a extremely limited range (i.e., I would see the police car the same time the radar went off which was about 1/2 mile in range). I sent it back and am still waiting to receive a replacement but they have been fairly prompt in their replys.

Yeah, I just got the new Beltronics 985, way cool. It has an AutoScan mode that doesn't bug you as much as the 980 when you drive by quicky marts, etc... But the awesome thing is it now shows you the exact radar frequency when you are in Tech Mode, like the Escort 8500. Escort and Bel are now the same company by the way...

The Beltronics will warn you in advance, before a cop even rounds the corner. I wouldn't buy any Rocky Mountain products, they are pretty much a scam, do the research before you spend your money.

I bought my Bel 985 on eBay for $217. You can find good deals on Yahoo Shopping as well.

check out

Test of RMR

That site also has some good test data and is known to be unbaised. Not to mention jamming of radar is illegal. Laser jamming is dependant on the state you live in.
