I have been thinking that I might not want to depend on Hotel TV's being completely up to date for connecting a game console via the supplied RCA (red, white, yellow) connectors. I am looking for some kind of adapter that converts coax to RCA jacks.

Two words. RF Modulator. I got one for $15 Canadian plus tax at the Dollar Warehouse.
The one I got also takes S-Video.

Yep, you can find RF Modulators at any Wal-Mart, Target, or Radio Shack.

I picked up one for when my wife was staying in the hospital and needed to hook up the DVD player to the TV in her room. Worked well.

They make the cord your looking for for the xbox or ps2 that you plug into your console and has the coaxial end. I bought one for my xbox for the same reason when I worked for the rail road and brought my movies and games with me.
Or you can buy the other thing that was mentioned. I may suggest if your going to go to radio shack and buy the one for $20+ dont. Walmart sells one that takes in 5 devices with a coaxial out. I use it for my 3do, xbox, vcr, and computer hooked to it so I can watch it all on the one tv. Even has s-video in and out and best of all its only $20 and does it all.

Here is what you need and I was wrong its $15.

Here is an ebay listing but it shows the back so you can fully understand why this is the best for your money. LMK if you want me to bid for you sis :D

Some hotels prevent you from disconnecting the coax... at least at the TV side. Perhaps you can buy a F-F converter to take along with you too and connect it at the other end.

Anyway, it still may not work because they may have the TV's programmed such that Channel 3/4 are not accessible or some other issue.

Then again, some hotels have the RCA jacks and/or VCR's you can connect into, so, just remember YMMV.
