Is it a digital audio coaxial out?

If so just go to Radio Shack and get one. It's how I have mine hooked up and the surround sound is great.

Only thing better is the optical out, but my reciever dosen't have an input for that.

yeah it's digital....my receiver has optical in, but my player doesn't have optical out, but coaxial should work fine, how much are they?

Its a coaxial cable...yes you can use regular RCA as the connection since it fits, but its no guaranteed to work. I used one for a while and it did work most of the time, but sometimes the dvd player would fail to recognize the connection. Turning it off and on made it work. The digital coax cable can be had for cheap at radio shack. No need to get with Monster Cable for it.

Some people think coax is better than optical but its a toss up...99% of people can't tell the difference.

Exactly what I was going to post. I use a Monster Cable coaxial from my Hollywood+ DVD decoder card to my TV, but it's only because I got it for 3 bucks with an employee discount when I worked for Best Buy last year. One from Radio Shack will be just fine! The only reason I prefer optical is because of the technology behind it and the bragging rights. :D I can't tell a difference either.

The only reason to use analog 5.1 out on a DVD player is if your receiver has no DAC of it's own

Also you won't be able to use DTS / DD on your receiver (if it supports it) unless you have a digital cable as well.
