Ohio Time Warner Cable Rep Dies at Desk

Co-worker Told to Stop CPR and Get Back to Work

10-25-2011

This is no surprise coming from Corporate these days.

But this is what Americans, especially Republican Conservatives want so this is the new America.

A sixty-seven year old Time Warner Cable Ohio call center employee is dead and Time Warner Cable is facing significant criticism from local Ohio news affiliates for negligence.

According to a co-worker who was trying to save the woman, Time Warner Cable managers told her to stop CPR and "get back on the phone and take care of customers."

This will get a round of applause at the next GOP debate

Not sure if there's any crime that they can be charged with. Though I get the feeling they won't be employed much longer.

I do not remember the "exact" term that was used, but I remember people getting in trouble with the cops because they did not render aid after a car wreck.

I belive you're thinking of "Good Samaritan Laws". Doesn't mandate that you HAVE to help. Just protect if you do.

S.C.

Liability for emergency care rendered at scene of accident.
Any person, who in good faith gratuitously renders emergency care at the scene of an accident or emergency to the victim thereof, shall not be liable for any civil damages for any personal injury as a result of any act or omission by such person in rendering the emergency care or as a result of any act or failure to act to provide or arrange for further medical treatment or care for the injured person, except acts or omissions amounting to gross negligence or wilful or wanton misconduct.

What does this have to do with "corporate"? A human made a stupid mistake telling another human what to do.

Despite Good Samaritan laws in the state, the manager expressed concern the company could be "held liable if something goes wrong."

Yes - the same company that will fire you and tell you to clean your desk out by noon. But, expects 2 weeks notice for when you decide to leave.

The same company who even during a period of profits will let you go to maintain the same % of growth for the next few quarters.

The same company that does everything to gain loop hole tax savings.

The same company that takes out life insurance on key employees, so that it makes some money for when said key employee dies.

You know, I totally accept and understand that I over do it when I mock corporate and capitalist shit eaters - but, this really rings true; Americans can be total slaves to faceless entities.

Who are you serving and protecting? Is it really in your best interest to look out for the company, when the company easily pushes you to the side when you are no longer useful?

You've given up your mind, free time and body to pretty much work as a minion for a profit making machine - is this the SAME life you want for your children?

Is this the American ideal; stepping on and refusing to consider the quality, existence and very life of a fellow human being?

If the soul was tangeble, you sick asshats would easily turn that over too. But, the soul can only get tarnished. And, you easily allow THAT to happen as well.

If the recipient of the CPR was a liberal, I don't see the problem here. :p

Some people need a serious ass whoopin. Sorry but that supervisor would be picking up his new teeth in about two weeks.

Some things you just can't legislate but you can give some justice.

no, that is not what I am thinking about. I think its something like a hit-and-run law, where someone knows another person is in harms way, and does not stop to render aid.

This is a sad story, but I can't see any political angle here. Generalizing about corporate culture from this incident is absurd.
