From what I heard, the woman walked around her car and stepped in the oncoming lane. Whenever I see someone pulled over, I always move over to the left, I'm going to keep doing that.

In that area though, there is a sharp curve jsut prior to the bridge where teh incident occured. If that's where she stopped, she should have hid in the woods.

This article says she was fixing a flat on the driver's front side when she was sideswiped.

This article says she had pulled on to the grassy shoulder to change a flat.

I don't know what the true story is but that last article also indicates that the man had been charged with DUI and failure to drive in the proper lane last month (case pending.) The first charge is certainly not an indictment for the second incident, but you know they're going to look at him under a microscope because of that pending charge. Any word on his condition?

it is extremely dangerous to stop in freeways, including shoulders

freeway shouldeers should be for emergencys only

Seems like this would qualify for one, since it seems like one of her car tires gave out.
I don't care if you think you're gonna bend a rim. Drive that $#!T off the freeway and then get help. Besides, did she really expect to change a tire all by herself ?

Not like changing to a spare is a hard thing. But yeah, I concur. Drive to the next exit at least and get off the freeway.

Sad. 🙁

I suppose I agree, at least she should have stayed inside her car and called for help.

Exactly, take the next exit. There is very little room (usually) to work with on the shoulder and usually the grassy side is an unlevel surface for jacking. I would never change a flat on a highway or any roadside for that matter, unless it was 100% safe to do so.

I agree with the first part. find a safe place to pull over.

BUT wtf? a women can't change a tire by herself? my wife has changed a few tires by herself and she is a small women. heck my mother is tiny and she changes them when she has to.
