This guy has been working in the same group I work in for just over a year. Just heard about it this morning.

I dont have the whole story yet, dont know if he fell asleep or not, but do know that he most likely didnt have any drinks before he got behind the wheel since he left straight from work.
 
What a dumbass... he "lost control" of his car on 95. He was probably speeding. Now he killed someone 'cus he was stupid. Idiot.
 
Daaaamn... lets not be judgemental yet... who knows what happened...

But regardless this is a very sad thing.

the fact that the woman died requires some kind of judgement on him. since he is the reason she died.

that said, we should assume innocent till proven guilty
 
More proof that you just can't do a line of coke while driving. Just kidding. I think I believe the fell asleep theory. There have been times when I'm heading home from work after working late where I feel like I could just fall asleep. Usually the car is all nice and warm from sitting in the sun all day and that will do it. Gotta hang out the window and get fresh air.

Yeah. Just having to live with that would be punishment enough for a lot of people.

 
Friend of mine from high school killed 2 bums late one night after drinking. He was 19 at the time. One guy died immediately, the other guy died in the hospital a few days later.

Gotta love being upper middle white kid around here. You can kill 2 people and never see the inside of a jail or prison. Enough money and the whole thing goes away. Still makes me mad to this day he didn't go to jail. He was a friend, but he was also a prick and deserved to do time for that stupidity.
 
I always drive with my windows down- Gives you that sense of speed you need to make educated driving decisions and keeps you alert. I only put them up in rain, snow, when my hands freeze to the wheel or when my gf cries about it :|

While i agree a lot of people would feel bad. The guy should still go to jail and lose his license for life.

Though he will get probation and lose his license for a few years (maybe). Oh and sued by the family of the dead women.

he was either asleep or just not paying attention. Odds on something with the car are slim but possible. If they don't find something with the car i hope he goes to jail and sued into bankruptcy.
 
From what I heard, the woman walked around her car and stepped in the oncoming lane. Whenever I see someone pulled over, I always move over to the left, I'm going to keep doing that.
 
this reminds me of all the stupid people who decide to change a flat tire on the shoulder of an interstate or any road of any speed. Cars lose control. Your life is in the hands of every single human that passes you. Don't stop on the shoulder if you can help it. And if you must, do not get out until help arrives (like a tow truck).

Cell phones are your friends.

I Live in Centerbrook. Westbrook is about 5 minutes away. I go over that bridge daily.

People typically drive like morons. I'm guessing speeding/agressiove driving were the cause.

Who knows though.

For a second ,I thought it was an early AM acident which would have made sense as fog is a big problem lately in the AM hours. But this happened at 7PM.

She was standing outside the vehicle with the hatch up when 26-year-old Andrew Errato, of Guilford, apparently lost control of his car, drifted onto the right shoulder and hit her, authorities said.

Hrmm... I just looked up that name in the company phone book. There is an engineer at my comany with that exact name. Engineers are typically younger...like 26. Do you work at EB?
 
Never stand in front of or behind your car if you have to stop on the side of the road.

If you just have to try to fix the car or look under the hood, try to do so from the side away from the road, and only stand in front or behind when you must and for as short a time as possible.

Definitely don't stand around in front or behind while you wait or make a phone call.
