 Do dig that up if you can, I gotta see that!

Thankfully I've never, ever seen anything that bad!

Nowhere near the record. My uncle's computer had over 2000 different problems that spybot found before I had to leave. I never did find out the total # of problems but daym.

Not a parody... I forgot to add that adaware found 444 items AFTER I ran spybot (mostly tracking cookies)

I cleaned up a guy's system last week that had over 4000 instances of crap that Adaware picked up not to mention viruses. Didn't bother me a bit because I charged him a premium to get it back into shape. It was so bogged down with stuff it was like moving in slow motion.

it pisses me off that there are so many people out there who don't have the slightest clue on how to look after their computers. well not pisses me off. saddens me more like it. pc's are pretty complicated things and the average user doesn't have a clue on what adware is.

Sometimes I feel like that and I will still tease them all day long, but in the end they keep me employed and allow me to make money on the side so more power to them and their computing mishaps!

I look at it the other way. You're always going to have more people who are ignorant about computers than those who know wtf is going on. You need to be pissed at the spammers/adwares instead of the grandmothers.

I should advertise "Don't want anyone to find out your surfing habits? Wipe it all for $74.99!"

Most I've seen was 1,200 instances of Netsky on a single computer along with 1,600+ things found by Spybot.

Shoot, in my job every day it's pretty typical to find a computer with at least 150-200 problems found by Spybot.

OP, at least you didn't have to work on it at all. I moved to a new office and machine and was amazed at how slow it was. I ran adaware and got around 4k instances. I ran spybot right after that and it locked the computer up. I forgot how many spybot caught, but it was over a thousand. There is still a hijacking web site that pops up on every boot that I haven't gotten rid of, yet.

I worked on a computer that had 500+ spyware items found and had 7 trojans on it. Took about 4 hours to totally clean. It was a b!tch!

Some of those spyware 'things' are borderline viruses. Ever tried to get rid of "Huntbar?" It has something like eight variants. It's pesky, annoying, and impossible to get rid of...
