Hoping to fill this unused slot with a network card I went on a search. Figuring since it uses the chipset to provide the network processing for the card, it should be cheaper than the average $30 network card available.
Unfortunately after searching far and wide I came up only with this Garbage from Intel Which costs $180. Its a simple Intel 10/100 VE network card which plugs into the CNR slot. Now how the hell is this supposed to be good for us???

It seems as if Intel is working as hard as they can the push more work on their CPUs to the detrement of the end user.
First it was the claim that MMX would put modems onto the chipset which brought us only the dreaded winmodem...
They keep trying to add more and more work to the chipser, but the industry keeps offloading this stuff onto PCI or AGP cards.
I dont mind the chipset doing it cause that saves me money. But when we end up with a USELESS connector on the MB I have to ask why??
Can anyone answer why the industry is supporting this CNR fiasco?
