CNPS9700 LED Installation Question

Hello, I have a question regarding the installation of the CNPS9700 LED CPU Cooler. I was assembling a new computer last night, and I applied a thin layer of thermal grease to both the CPU and heatsink base as specified in the instructions.

However, after I put the cooler on the processor, and screwed in the clamp (alternating between screws), the cooling unit still felt a little loose. It felt like it was firmly in contact with the processor, but the cooling unit would still turn slightly in the bracket. I'm not sure if this is normal (based on the thermal grease being on both the CPU and the Heatsink) and it is just because the surface is slippery. Or, is this something that I should be concerned about.

I haven't done much with the computer yet, beside boot to the BIOS screen, and look at the motherboard hardware monitor (asus p5q-e). The CPU (a core 2 duo E8500) idles at around 38 degrees C on the bios monitor page.

Please respond and let me know if I've made a mistake somewhere, or to let me know that what I'm seeing is normal.

I've been building PCs for quite awhile now, and I've used other Zalman coolers in the past. This is the first one I've used that I've really had a question as to whether I installed it properly.

Thank you,
Shane

Thanks for the reply. The temperature seems okay in Asus Probe, so I'm going to trust that it's doing it's job.

Depending on what TIM (thermal paste) you used, it should feel loose for awhile. BTW, leave it alone, and let it set up.😉
