what they won't be hiding now is that some person gets to watch live as their dead parents are removed from the attic of their home.Originally posted by: glugglug

i'm gonna say this before this post gets flooded with "you sick people wanting to show dead bodies!" It's not the fact that someone in the media WANTS to show the casualties but rather the ABILITY to show it.
they have the ability and they'll use it.Originally posted by: chambersc

It's their "RIGHT" under the Constituation. If you, or anyone else for that matter, doesn't like it, turn the channel. Very simple! 🙂

What media blackout? Yesterday evening ABC was showing dead bodies laying around from a lot of different locations in NOLA.
U.S. District Judge Keith Ellison issued a temporary restraining order against a "zero access" policy announced earlier Friday by Army Lt. Gen. Russel Honore, who is overseeing the federal relief effort in the city, and Terry Ebbert, the city's homeland security director.
Yea that's pretty insensitive. I'd change the channel but that does'nt mean I think they should be barred from photographing it or showing it. We've had enough distruction of our BoR the last 5 years.Originally posted by: TastesLikeChicken

i just feel it isn't necessary to show those bodies, and they will trump it.
i don't feel they should be restricted from showing corpses, so you are inaccurately reading my feelings on this.Originally posted by: HardWarrior

You don't have to say it. Some things can be accurately implied. If you feel this way, no dead bodies shown, I can respect that. However, I want to see everything I can. In order to make appropriate decisions I need complete information, and pictures are part of the story.

That is total BS. If pictures are shown besides dead bodies floating in the water, they will have their identies hidden, be in bodie bags, etc.
It seems to me I recall seeing dead bodies from 9-11. Even people jumping out of windows to their deaths. We heard about it all the time, nothing but bits and pieces, etc.
I guess it's OK when to show when Bush WANTS the effect, but distasteful when he doesn't want the effect.

I didn't want to see the poor people jumping to their deaths from the world trade center either.

i wouldn't deny the media coverage there either, but showing some of that, too, wasn't necessary.
sheesh. 😕
dance around what? i have clearly stated more than once in this thread that i don't agree with the censoring, but i think they will show more than i care to see.Originally posted by: 1EZduzit

Well, dance around the issue all you want, but either they can show it or they can't. It's not about what you want to see, it's about what they have a right to film. If a orecedent needed to be set, it has already ben set by the coverage of 9-11.
When you head back in, see if you see them turning around now. 😉Originally posted by: dmcowen674
I didn't know about the Media ban.
I did think it was strange that I saw Media trucks leaving the area.
Your argument is the same as someone saying they don't want to watch graphic violence or sexuality on TV...if you don't want to watch it, don't turn it on. Stupid simple.Originally posted by: moshquerade
