A look at the viral sensation's Reddit history reveals a different side of the wholesome man America thought they'd earned. The discovery comes just a few days after Bone, clad in a red sweater, was sprung into the spotlight during Sunday's presidential debate.

...

In a recent post, he referenced Jennifer Lawrence's hacked nude photos from 2014: "Maybe she should have been more careful with her pics, but the bad guys are still the ones who sought them out and looked at them."

"By which I mean guys like me," he added. "I saw her butt hole. I liked it."

How would the world react if you gained a true 15 minutes of fame just like this guy, and then found your AT Forum history.

Oh the shame......

The guy should have created new reddit account.

That said, it's beyond sad what CNN and news in general have become, isn't there anything more worthy reporting than private life of some meme?

It's going to be interesting to see what happens as the current young generation starts to run for office. How will their online presences shape their candidacies?

That's hilarious actually, sorry JLaw.

But, as the article pointed out, he also posted "...Blaming a victim or assigning a woman value based on how 'used' she is will never be anything but disgusting," he wrote. "Your value has not changed due his words, or any assault you have endured. You are still valuable." in defense to someone in a rape thread.

Could it be he's just really that unabashed in his sharing? He did immediately fess up about splitting his suit's ass. He strikes me as someone not afraid to speak in a very direct, 'reductionist' manner. Aka 'brutal honesty.'

Maybe neither statements really speak to who he is. *shrug*

Maybe... but it IS a CNN article to slander libel smear an ordinary American.
Just the topic title might need adjustment.

Exactly how is CNN smearing him?

As far as I can tell, he's brought almost all of this upon himself.

How? He isn't running for office, he isn't even endorse anyone. All he did was ask a well reasoned question at a town hall debate. Why should anyone care what he posted on reddit? This is nothing but a smear against a normal guy to sell ad space.

A huge percentage of guys in this country saw those pictures, and I am sure most of them liked it. Right, wrong or indifferent once it is out on the internet people are going to look.

I wonder how long until the SJW-nutters start calling for his job.

Did you even read the article posted?

Let me help: (It's a long read from the OP's linked article, but try.....)

After asking a question about energy during the debate, Bone's 15 minutes of fame was a welcomed breath of fresh air during an exhausting election season.

He appeared on national news segments, grew his Twitter presence to 239,000 followers (from less than 20) and even worked out a promotional deal with Uber. He's currently slated to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live! after the next debate.

But after he took part in a Reddit Ask Me Anything on Thursday evening, users on the site uncovered his past comment history by searching his username StanGibson18.

Bone's questionable Reddit posts include a number of comments about the bodies of women in NSFW photos, as well as a confession that he once committed felony insurance fraud, forging documents to make it appear that he had car insurance for his pizza delivery gig.

In addition, he wrote candid comments about the killing of Trayvon Martin, which he referred to as "justified." He also called acquitted gunman George Zimmerman a "big ole shit bird."

Seems to me his downfall was from Reddit users who outed him, not CNN. Now, I suppose you could make the case CNN should have ignored what Reddit users found, but CNN was not responsible for the outing, just reporting what's there.

How is that smearing someone, unless you mean it's a smear campaign when one's own words are shown to the public.

That the news media is a hate machine used to destroy anyone who grabs their attention.

the bulk of the media has become a tool to be exploited like many other tools. You are partially correct. Some choose to let that tool destroy themselves through the overwhelming weight of their own disgusting character and archived history thereof. Hard to blame the media for that, though.

I don't think that's fair, really. It's a bit boneheaded of him to allow his previous anonymous identity to be revealed so easily, but the guy was hardly a public figure 6 days ago. Jaskalas is right that the media often chooses to run trash like this for no good reason beyond exploiting the clickability of certain buzzwords. There is absolutely no journalism here, as a story like this exists only to funnel traffic, regardless of the actual content or consequences of such clicks.

It sucks that Ken Bone didn't make more of an effort to protect his online history, but he isn't trying to become any kind of public servant that needs our trust in whatever decision he makes. He's just some guy. I think there remains (or should) a fine balance between individuals needing to maintain diligence in protecting their online privacy, as well as an acceptable amount of public trust that others (especially the media) do not make direct efforts to savage your clear intent at privacy for personal gain.

Once this election is over Ken's star will quickly fade. His 15m will be up.

How does this effect his private life moving forward? That's the question...

It is a smear because there is no reason for it to be national news on a major news network. All CNN is trying to do is smear him for clickbait. I don't see any of those comments as being so bad that he needed to be outed to a national audience. I am sure in your 6700 posts I could find a handful of sentences you've typed that could make you look like a horrible person too. This just shows how far down in the gutter the 24hr news networks are and why I think all of them make this country worse.

But a huge percentage of people in the country looked at JLaw's pictures, including most women I know. Also around a majority of posters here think the killing of Trayvon Martin was justified (I do not), but at least he doesn't worship Zimmerman like many on here do. Considering he is still undecided and likely a moderate, it doesn't surprise me he comes down in the middle of that issue.

But at the end of the day WHO CARES? Why should his comments be dragged out on a national stage, out of context, for the whole world to judge him, when he is just a normal guy that works the night shift? Because he is getting a little bit of attention, people are jealous and want to run him down and CNN is happy to get the ad revenue.

I'm not sure I even thought of it that far... but yes, all people have to do is apply pressure to his employer and he's automatically terminated. Doesn't take much.
