During a live press coverage of a speech for Irani President Ahmedeinjad the CNN made the big mistake of translating the following "We believe all nations are allowed to have nuclear technology" into "We believe all nations are allowed to have nuclear weapons".

I need to hear from an Irani member, are the words Technology and Weapons that close that you can mix them up so easily in such an important translation ?

She made it. Maybe her Farsi just sucks and she likes to believe it is good.

She was banned from Iran before, but not for a translation error.

"The Iranian-born journalist also spoke about the future of her native country, from which she was banned several years ago for a report she made about reforms in the country that showed young people drinking alcohol, which is illegal there."

So right now Al-Jazeera and CNN are not allowed in Iran. Maybe more will be banned.

She is a btch that is abusing here position to influence others, I don't care if she is reporting sht about Satan himself, it's her duty to be neutral and not twist things around.

Yes, the network is going down the drain.

I don't think it is going down the train...but they should hold a few meetings to discuss seriously the problems with reporting things as they are NOT. I doubt there are any beyond these, because they would have most likely been picked up by now, but journalists everywhere (not CNN) have to learn to report news, not guide the reader to a conclusion~ And this is where I fail a lot of journalism fails today...there is no objectivity

CNN didn't mistranslate it. An interpreter working for the company CNN hired was the one that mistranslated it. CNN broadcast the incorrect translation, apologized for it, and corrected the translation. The translation company has also apologized to CNN and stated that they won't contract the interpreter again.
