they drive her home? that's a pretty pathetic stretch TH. We were teenage boys at one time, did you ever think it was ok to assault a passed out female? I sure as shit didn't.

And I'm glad you were raised properly. However, just because your moral compass seemed to be working during your teenage years doesn't mean everyone's was, unfortunately. Some men are just predators. Feminist groups can hold all the "awareness" rallies they want, and that fact isn't going to change.

I cant believe this is even being argued. There is never a reason or excuse for what they did. Raised right or not, it was just fucking wrong.

This.

Sorry, I'm not that sympathetic wrt people signing off on an adjustable rate mortgage. You go into it knowing that the rate could, and most likely will, go up. The paperwork also says that there may be penalties if you go delinquent on your loan, like the interest rate going up. Most of the stuff you sign with a mortgage isn't that complicated and most of that paperwork is pretty standard.

It was around 2002, 2003 I whipped my sons ass for not doing his homework. I think he was 14 or 15 years old at the time.

The next thing I know, I have assault charged filed on me and child protection services visits my home.

When we have a society that objects to discipline, are the kids in the opening post the result?
And you deserved it.

How old are you? I am 45 years old.

And no, I would have never taken advantage of a lady.

However, there are some big differences in the way kids think today, and when I was growing up.

And who's fault's that??? Absentee parents? Raising kids without teaching them those eeeevviiiilllll conservative morals?? Teaching the kids that because they're big-time athletes that they're privileged?

Are you serious? Really? What will be next? Walk around with Daisy Duke short and tight cut off shirt, alone, late at night...oh yes, you are going to get some, what do you think is going to happ, young lady, right?

If a woman looks good, she obviously wants to be raped. If she did not want to be raped, why did she bother to shower and comb her hair?

I agree completely.

A year ago I was EXACTLY the type of person who would have said something stupid like "and you deserved it" btw, to you having child protective services visit you...

I had my head firmly up my ass, at that point. I now see just how destructive to society some of these touchy feely, reality-denying mentalities are.

So let this be a warning to any male or female that thinks its ok to have sex with, or fondle, an impaired person.

yes, there are consequences and these boys found out what the consequences are.

There was a time when I grew up that men didn't have sex or attempt to have sex with an impaired female. The gentleman thing to do was to take her home and put her to bed without touching her. Or, you called their friends or family to come pick them up.

I don't agree with blaming the victim because she got drunk or because she was around a bunch of horny boys. It doesn't matter, they knew better. She couldn't consent passed out, or even half coherent drunk. Not to mention she is 16 years old for crying out loud. In some states that would constitute statutory rape.

That depends very much on what he meant by "whipped his ass" which is, as I'm sure you know, a euphemism not usually meant literally.

As for me? I don't have kids. I have also never raised a hand to another person in my life. I'm almost constitutionally incapable of doing so.

I was spanked precisely one time (for nearly running out in front of a car at age 4) growing up.

I don't anticipate using any sort of corporal punishment when I do have kids, at all.

But I have come to believe that my former mentality (which you still have, seemingly) that any parent who ever utilizes that method is some sort of horrible, evil person... was extremely naive of me.

I think some people are just too fucking thick to be raised in the way I was. I had no curfew, no rules imposed on me at all... I watched whatever I wished, played whatever games I wanted... stayed out til all hours and would disappear for days... and was a total goodie two shoes for the most part. I caused my parents no problems at all. Some people can be given that sort of unrestricted situation and be fine in it.

Others cannot...

It's a lot like religion I think. I am an atheist and always have been, for the longest time I assumed everyone should be. Now I've come to think that some people really do need religion, in the same way some people may need to be smacked.

If she's not wearing a burka, she's asking for it.

So, you would stay out for days at a time and your parents didnt give a shit? And this, according to you, is ok.

It wasn't that they didn't give a shit, and its hard to explain the dynamic which existed in a way that would make a person "get it" - I guess you just had to be there.

But tell me, why is it not okay if the arrangement works? I never gave them reason to change it, or had any issues. I was raised well by example, at 13 I had the strength to resist peer pressure almost entirely.

This was Nebraska in the early 90's and that is part of it. I wouldn't recommend it for parenting in Detroit or with a trouble prone child anywhere.

So out of curiosity do you think everything else was stonecold sober?

And as for the 16 year old thing. Come on, as far as I know the perpetrators were high school students too.

I find it funny that people always say that girls mature faster than boys. But then when it comes to sex apparently a 17 year old boy having sex with a 16 year old girl should be statutory rape, but a 30 year old teacher having sex with 14-15 year old boy is fine.
