But why should one be more private than another? That is the question.

I think we all know they are treated differently. The question is why is one hole considered rude and one considered sick/twisted?

The question is why should society treat them differently. Say that they do is not an explanation for why they should.

Something is not right with you.

If you really want to see what is terrible in life, look for all the people online that are defending the football players.
Also brietbart's website is also defending the rapists, which isn't a surprise for anyone associated with that website.
http://publicshaming.tumblr.com/post/45635407944/the-victim-blaming-slut-shaming-reactions-to-the

Wow holy shit those people are dumb as hell. Along with several in this thread I might add, wtf is wrong with you idiots. The chicks punishment (if you can even say she "needed" to be) was the assault. I fucking know that none of the dumb asses posting retarded comments are fathers or specifically have daugthers. If those little bastards were my sons there asses would have gotten beaten horribly before the police could get me off of them. If it was my daugther then I would be pretty pissed she put herself in that situation but obviously the people who commited the assault would hopefully be prosecuted.

I most certainly would not say

"Tough shit honey, don't be dumb next time" all the while going to the next football game to get their autographs.

It has to be troll posts, it has too. No one is that fucking stupid.

Something is not right with you.

Are you seriously not able to discern that nehalem is just making a point? HE acknowledges the difference between the two things, but he's trying to highlight the fact that within the modern culture, the basis of that distinction has been eroded greatly.

Some of you are only interested in stamping these particular kids with "evil rapists" and shipping them off, nehalem is interested in getting at the root causes, but fixing the root causes might actually require some uncomfortable realizations about what we've done to society since the 60's.

I'm not even saying I agree with nehalem on this, but I do see his point. And people who are commenting back to him as though he actually doesn't comprehend the difference between these two bodily organs, or why they are treated differently, are even more dense than they erroneously believe him to be.

Evidently not, since most of us DO understand the difference between the two things, and why they're treated differently.

If you'd like to encourage him to focus on his point instead of asking stupid questions, I'll happily join you.

I am able to discern he has no real point. The basis for the distinction hasn't eroded at all. It will never
be ok to touch a woman's vagina without consent.

If you want to make stupid arguments in defense of deplorable actions, don't be shocked to be treated like it.

The root cause of the problem is likely really fucking horrible parenting with a local community that coddles and protects the athletes.

I don't need to move the goalpost on whats acceptable. The law is clear and they broke it in disgusting fashion.

Two boys decided it was okay to sexually assault a girl while she was unconscious. I don't think what these boys did will ever be accepted by society at anytime in the future.

As for the root cause, it was due to alcohol and poor choices. The way to fix said root cause is prosecute underage drinking and any poor choices that happen to violate the law. It appears that the later has already occurred in this case.

I hope that the new investigations take on how these teens had access to alcohol and prosecute anyone that contributed to the delinquency of these minors. I also hope any threats towards the victim in this case will be taken seriously and those making threat be dealt with according to the laws of Ohio. If this means these people making threat are placed in Juvenile hall for a period of time so be it.

Except no one is able to articulate why that difference exists other than to say that is just the way it is.

The point is simple. If you endeavor for decades to create a society that sees little real difference between consensual nose touching and consensual vagina touching why should you be surprised when a bunch of drunken hormonal teenagers see little difference between non-consensual nose touching and non-consensual vagina touching?

Imagine instead that the girl and been somewhat less drunk and had demanded that each football player take his turn with her. How many people would then get upset when she was slut shamed?

EDIT: In this case since it was fingering and not sex you don't have the obvious distinction of pregnancy or STDs to make there any real difference between vaginal and nasal fingering.

You have not established that anyone has made any such endeavor.

Not very many. The difference that your hypothetical situation includes her CONSENT, when the reality is that she never gave consent to what actually happened to her.

Are you serious? You honestly don't think that puritanical sexual morals have been pushed to the wayside over the last 50 years?

And her consent is irrelevant to whether letting boys finger you is a big deal or not.

In some ways, yes. But not in any way that's relevant to this topic.

"Letting" implies consent, does it not?

Its very relevant. That is why I keep asking why, excluding puritanical sexual morality, is touching a girls vagina different than touching her nose.

"Letting" implies consent, does it not?

That wasn't the point of what I was saying. See below

Are you serious?

If engaging in sexual activity is not a big deal. Then how can you say vaginal fingering without consent is any difference than nasal fingering without consent.

In essence if there is little difference between consensual vaginal fingering and consensual nasal fingering why is there such a big difference between non-consensual vaginal fingering and non-consensual nasal fingering.

Engaging in sexual activity WITH CONSENT ON BOTH SIDES is not a big deal. Forcing sexual activity on someone who is unable to consent is something else entirely, and that's what this case is about.

Noses have NOTHING to do with it. Your red herring is not working.

because it doesn't matter at all, it is what it is and its not changing.

Likely as the human species attempted monogamy some 18,000 years ago it started to become more unacceptable for non mates to touch a females reproductive parts.

because the law and society are clear as to whats acceptable, they don't like it or have to agree they do have to abide by it though.

Imagine instead that the girl and been somewhat less drunk and had demanded that each football player take his turn with her. How many people would then get upset when she was slut shamed?

Id think it was gross but consent means she was willing and her desire to engage in the activity is what determines criminality here.

EDIT: In this case since it was fingering and not sex you don't have the obvious distinction of pregnancy or STDs to make there any real difference between vaginal and nasal fingering.

there is a big difference as a matter of law, culture and society. in the end thats all that matters, the society in which you are a part of has determined the rules, follow them or face the consequences of not following them.
