CNN: GOP leaders say party strayed, must find its way

On the homepage on CNN.com right now, there are 2 stories under the politics section:

POLITICS
? GOP leaders say party strayed, must find its way
? GOP wants law to define when fetuses feel pain

How ironic that while they trumpet the need to get back to the "roots" of conservatism (fiscal responsibility, small government, etc...), fetus pain is the issue they are currently choosing to pursue.

Edit: Yes, I know there is already a thread about the fetus bill. My point is regarding the first article in which they claim to want to get back to conservatism, yet do the exact opposite.

Unfortunately, over time, they get re-elected as people forget the difference between what they say and what they do.

They ran in 1994 on 'restoring integrity' to government, and then gave us Tom DeLay. People forget, though, and at some point their nice corporate-funded propaganda will get them elected again, and history will repeat itself as they screw America for the donor class again.

They've gotten very practised at stirring up the 'outrage' against the democrats. Remember, somehow in 2000 they had the nation believing *Gore* was the pathological liar, not Bush.
