so if we just started the 24/7 surveillance then ummm..... WTF were we doing before? 24/5?

oh wait, now i get it. now that the democratic primaries are essentially over, bush has given the go ahead to grab the fish out of the barrel

I was thinking the same thing when I read that article. When is catching the habitual mass murderer of american citizens NOT a top priority? He killed ~3000 American men and women and 2 years later, the guy is still running free!

And the tin-foil hat theories of Bush probably catching Bin Laden weeks before elections is starting to seem much more likely.

I hope they don't catch him until after the election.

I hope they remember that Bin Laden has not been convicted of any crimes. While I accept that he did admit to doing terrorist activities , alot of people have tried to take credit for things they didn't do. If there is proof Bin Laden commited terrorist acts then he should easily be convicted in a fair trial with a jury of his peers. That is the same right any of us expect. I don't necessarily believe all of the government propaganda put out on this guy, although I do believe most of it like anyone else. Still people talking about killing him when up to now he is still innocent is scary/

Difference between searching 24/7 and able to moniutor 24/7.

Article indicates that technology is being deployed to assist in the search.

Amen to that. Catching Bin Laden at this point will do little to sway the voters. Most have already made their minds up and grabbing the giant bearded one out of his cave in late October can't save him now.

You're buddies in the administration don't think the same way. They want to maybe capture Osama but an "extra-judicial kill" would be just fine. And they've tried to do just that when they thought they knew where he was (Predator drone firing on Al-Qaeda meeting). You'd better get back with the program.

Indeed, this was one, if not THE main reason I was against the Iraq war. If this is true (though, it could just be media propaganda) then it just shows they where just dragging their feet on the matter and deverting attension from Afganistan. And have not been doing what they should have been doing all along (focusing mainly on Bin Laden and Al Qaeda).

Technology of that nature should have been used from the start. And they damn well know it. I was under the assumption they would have already started suing this kinda technology, long ago. Personally, I feel, if they are JUST NOW starting to use it, then who ever has been in charge of the Bin Laden man-hunt should be fired.

The Administration can't handle more than one crisis at a time?

We certainly didn't have the same soldiers and support people in Iraq doing the same work in Afghanistan.

It's that multi-task thing again. I clearly remember the pro-Iraq-war people saying the army/administration could handle both Iraq and Afganistan. But clearly Iraq was a distraction. Atlest fallowing Crimson's logic. People kept saying the army/administration can multi-task, then they go around saying things like this, to excuse the fact that what should have already been done is just starting to get done now.

You're as in Your ? Or did you mean 'You are' by "You're"?
What makes you think I have buddies in the administration? I am a libertarian who voted for Kerry in the Primary and may or may not do so in November depending on what comes to light between now and then. I don;t have any buddies in the administration. Although one time when I was young I tricked a democratic presidential candidate into autographing a George Bush for Pres bumper sticker and I am sure George would love that.

Elmer Fudd dropped one too many anvils on his head, you'll have to excuse him.

I doubt very seriously if he is still in Afghanistan. He was more than likely smuggled out by sympathizers to Pakistan where he probably still is. Until we either invade Pakistan or send in our intelligence team he will not be found.

I remember a video where he was praising the attack and alluded to america deserving it which resulted in people concluding that he admitted responsibility for it but I don't remember any video where he explicitly claimed responsiblity? Then again, I stopped subscribing to those videos after seeing a couple of them, so there are plenty I missed- was it one of the newer videos he admitted responsibility?

The Republicans realize they have a major problem with their convention site. They had hoped to play off the tragedy that happened their and garner the fear vote, but Iraq and Afghanistan, Bushes two major leadership decisions, weren't even mentioned once in the new Bush ad steady leader joke ads. And the victims survivors will be protesting outside the convention hall as the nation slowly remembers bush reading a children's book when he got the news on 9/11 and how he flew around the country instead of returning to Washing tom and the lie about that Rove tried to float that Airforce one had got a credible threat, and how immediately the pursuit of Bin Laden got conflated to Saddam and all the plans they had for war waiting for an excuse to happen, and how bin Laden got away at Tora Bora because of the use of foreign troops, and how we are now hiring mercenaries to govern Iraq so we can get some of our ass out before the election, and how the planning for war in Iraq and the need for troops meant they didn't capture a Al Quaeda because it wasn't as relevant as securing oil. Bush is a total disaster. God doesn't like thieves who stop the vote count in His nation.
