The 85-year-old, who owns Giambelli 50th on New York's East Side, beat off an unnamed opponent in Moscow to claim the largest truffle ever to be sold at an auction, auction director Davide Paolini said.

I can hear the bidding now.

"Tell you what, I'll give you $41,000 and a hand job, how about that?"

Amazing...

Wow.. 2.4lbs.. That's enough truffle to flavor ~400 servings..

I use white and black truffle grapeseed oil in cooking.. It's amazing what a little hint of truffle does for the aroma and secondary flavors.

YES!!!

If you want to try it, definitely get the 6.5oz bottle. It only takes about a tablespoon to flavor pasta for eight. I like grapeseed because you can cook it hotter than olive oil without distorting its flavor. I made the mistake of ordering a liter each of the black and white truffle oils from them and they turned out to be much lower quality than the 6.5oz variety.
