1 Motorola Droid Razr Maxx 19.78
2 Apple iPhone 4 (with 3G off) 14.55
3 Apple iPhone 3GS (with 3G off) 13.4
4 HTC Legend 12.75
5 RIM BlackBerry Curve 9360 12
6 HTC SDA 11
7 LG Optimus S 10.7
8 LG Optimus T 10.6
8a LG Optimus U 10.6
10 Samsung Captivate Glide 10.3
11 Samsung Galaxy S II 10
12 Huawei Mercury 9.32
13 Apple iPhone 4S 9.2
14 Samsung Focus S 9.01
15 DuraCore 8.95

I only listed the first 15, there's more on the chart. This measures only talk time. Thing is, why were only two phones tested with data off? Thats poor testing methodology, seeing how disabling 3G data will significantly increase your battery life on any smart phone.

Now I'm curious how long the Razr Maxx lasts with data off, with nearly 20 hours with data.

The Maxx really raised the bar in the battery life department, the same way the iPad has raised the bar in screen resolution. One only hopes this gets the competition to up their game as well.

I don't know why the two iPhones are tested with 3G off... especially since this is a talk time test.

Why are the iPhone the only one tested with 3G off? And who reads Cnet nowadays?

Useless except to look at Android phones. You can't turn data off on one phone and turn on data on another phone.

Also, a good battery life test should have 3 major components.

1.
Talk time with data on.
Talk time with data off.

2.
Browsing on data network.
browsing on wifi network.

3.
Gaming.

The above tests would give you an idea of all usage scenarios and how long you can expect to get off of them.

Hmm, that pretty accurate for the sgs2. Mine usually lasts 10-12 hours with normal use.

We should all go spam their comments section pointing oit the flaws in the testing methods and vote up each other.

Apple iPhone 3G (with 3G on) 4.95
Apple iPhone 4 (with 3G on) 7.76

The "longest lasting" sort is useless.
