I have an Radeon X1900xtx with my system specs (see below) and when I play CNC3 on high detail at 1280*1024 with no aa and af, it lags. It lags when I start fighting with the bots and I have many vehicles and infantry (about 500-1000). It goes to around 15-20 fps and stays there.

I also tried putting all the settings to minimum and it still lagged at around 20fps in intense parts of the game (lots of fighting).

I am using the card under XP 32bit and Catalyst 7.5. Pleas give me suggestoins as this is urgent.

If you change the video settings and it still lags...sounds to me like a problem elsewhere.. maybe CPU or hard drive space perhaps? Other stuff running in the background taking up memory?

Oh hell...thought that was a X2... definately CPU then...

Common with all RTS games when lots of units are in play. The pathfinding thread starts to bog down your CPU because the pathfinding requests for each unit has to queue up to be processed. (Very basic explanation.)

C&C Generals was the first recent RTS game where this became a highly noticeable problem. SupCom does it. Not surprised C&C3 would do it too.

i you sure it needs dual core. It doesn't say that in reccomended system requirements.

The recommended system requirements for Oblivion is 1gb of ram and a 6800 video card. Dont always listen to the box.

Check your Hard drive speed... I was playing C&C3 on my lan computer. The lan computer's hard drive was almost full 220GB used... so when i was playing C&C3 i was lagging to death :( ... After i came home i connected the lan comp to my network and copied all the file to my 2TB fileserver. Then i formated the lan machine and did a fresh install of Windows XP. I installed C&C3 and it was not lagging anymore.

CnC3 has no unit cap, so when you get those damn scrin carrier swarms of course it'll lag with your older CPU
