Here is the deal, my old case and PSU are so loud i can't even sleep with my computer on. It is also really crowded and messy in there. CMStacker seems like the perfect case for me, however, none of the reviews i've read mentioned whether or not the included fans are noisy or not. i'm looking for a 400-500 watt psu that is QUIET. I want to get rid of desktop noise once and for all. I'm a little skeptical of the fanless psu that thermaltake offers, plus its ony 350 watts.

Here is what i'm thinking of and i'd like to know if anybody out there has any experience with any of these.
CoolerMaster CMStacker
with the Cooler Master Cross Flow fan

Under this setup I can use Thermaltakes passive athlon64 heatsink solution. The cross flow fan will run down the side parrallel to the thermaltake heatsink.

I know i'll have plenty of room in this case, but will it be loud under this setup??

I still need any recommendations on a QUIET 400-500 watt psu. any suggestions?

Any good mid tower will be fine, you don't need anything that big...

Seasonic, Tagan, and Zalman make very good/quiet PSU's

agreed, but that is a gorgeous case. the 120's should be fairly quiet, though you may need a fan controller to adjust the fans more precicely to your needs. Nexus also makes very quiet psu's

I do not think that the cross flow fan is quiet. Perhaps if you can use a variable resistor to quiet all of the fans in the case, it will be quiet enough. I do not know how effective the passive thermaltake hs is compared to say an XP90 or XP120 or Zalman CNPS 7000

The Seasonic Super Tornado and Super Silencer lines of PSUs in particular are known for their quietness. Here's a list of Silent PC Review's recommendations (bottom of page):

PSUs recommended as quiet

I own the CM Stacker with the crossflow fan. You shouldnt have any problems with noise, the VGA is the loudest part of my case (was the HSF until I switched to liquid cooling). The crossflow fan is only louder than the VGA when cranked all the way up, kept on the middle setting, it runs very quietly.

A quick note on the crossflow fan, unless your RAM is installed horizontally, the cross flow fan is somewhat ineffective other than simply to move more air to the rear. I currently have a Shuttle AN35/N-Ultra with the RAM mounted vertically, the first stick is quite cool but it blocks the air from the crossflow fan from reaching other parts of the MB behind it.

This case is huge. There are full tower cases, and then there's the Stacker. I have my entire computer inside the case - including liquid cooling. We're not talking a small liquid cooling system either - 1.7qt reservoir, 1/2" ID reinforced tubing, 4 pass-through tranny-oil cooler (size of 2 120mm fans), 2 120mm fans for the radiator, 300GPH dry pump.

is the exhaust fan on the rear of the case enough to cool with the thermaltake passive heatsink?

Well I also own a Stacker, and you dont have to worry about noise coming from the fans that come with the case. They are quiet as hell, but the downside to that is they dont push much air for 120mm fans. I would actually get some better fans that push higher CFM and hook them up to a fan controller, this way you have the option of turnin down the fans when you want them to be quiet, and turning it up when you want it to run cool. I don't have a crossflow fan yet, but I am strongly considering to get one. But the crossflow fan has 3 different fan settings, so I doubt noise will be a problem. And like someone else said. The loudest fan in my case is prolly the fan on my 6800 Ultra.
