CMOS reset ?

I was having problems with a driver and am suggested by ASUS support to reset the CMOS then reinstall drives for some of the motherboard utilities.
My question being is it mandatory to reinstall window when you reset the CMOS. I am assuming that I won't lose any saved data even with a reinstall.

You should not need to re-install Windows. If drivers are corrupted, you might want to download the latest version for each of your components. Not sure why anyone would tell you to reset the cmos if there is a suspicion of a driver problem.

the only thing you have to be care of is the power management. If you change the state it will not boot into windows.

The tech said I may have to do a reinstall but this CMOS reset may work.
The problem stems from having a media card reader in when I first built and installed Windows it labeled my harddrive H:. I had a utility called ASUS probe loaded and working. When I reinstalled windows without the media card reader so my HDD would be labeled C: this ASUS utility wouldn't load. Kept getting an error "IO driver failed to load".
