CMOS reset, now runs slowly. Modo screwed?

Hi All.
Recently PC not started, turned out to be CMOS needed resetting (GPU forum postthread), all fine since, or so I thought until I noticed how slow it was running.

I'm unsure: does anyone know if this hints at an endemic motherboard problem (spec @ end) or something like a software de-sync which can be remedied by a BIOS flash or similar back-end realignment?

gigabyte g965p-ds3 rev3.3 / xfx 8800gt was the graphics card i thought was the original offender

slow how?
could be that your drive is running in PIO mode or sometimes the PCI-E for gfx can get stuck at x1.

Did you do a once over of the BIOS afterwards to make everything was as it should be? You can't always rely on optimal values to be set automatically.

thanks guys - very belatedly!
Drives in DMA, PCI-E @ 16x, BIOS updated from v10 to 13 & will have a wee play with it to see if everything's as I'd like.

[other n00bs with this problem who wanna do the suggestions above:
Check drive state DMA/PIO in Device Manager > IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, primary & secondary controllers (1 by 1) properties > advanced settings.
Check PCI-E current speed by downloading GPU-Z - using 2 cards may limit the speed you get on each.
Update your BIOS...with great caution! Modern mobos have tools for flashing, often within windows. If going down this route, read everything twice before you try anything once]

Gigabyte boards are tricky. If you had it overclocked with a lower multi and a high FSB, it will reset the FSB but it won't always clear the multiplier setting if it has trouble booting. This is supposed to avoid needing the 'CMOS CLEAR' jumper. My 3.8 GHz overclock(8 x 475) will default back to 333Mhz FSB and runs @ 8 x333(2.66Ghz) if having trouble with my settings. I then have to go back in and re-enable manual settings.

Can u run CPU-Z and report back on the results including FSB & MEM speeds?

Plan on doing a full system test with all the various tools, but before i do so a quick answer is that i'm pretty sure it's running @ 9 * 266 as i've never overclocked. Which is dumb, since that's what I bought it for.
