Ok, I had a horrendous scare last night. I just recently finished painting the inside of my case, so of course I had to remove everything out of the case, and I gently put everything outa the way.
Well after the next day I put back everything and and booted, and everything was hunkey dorey. Friday night, I boot up my computer, and I get a nice error message on the POST saying "BAD BIOS CHECKSUM STARTING BIOS RECOVERY"
Needless to say my heart fell through my stomache. I freaked and immediatly powered down. I started it up again and it managed to get into windows and I gamed all into the night with no troubles. I rebooted several times and it didn't appear, it only seem to happen when the computer was turned off for some time and then booted back up. I would find out in the morning.
This morning I powered on the computer again and the same message appeared, Now I knew something was really not right. I couldn't understand it, everything that I had changed in the BIOS and my current OC state gave me no problems for nearly a month. Why all of a sudden is my CMOS started to freak out? I couldn't find my Mobo disc and I really began to panic. ASUS site only now provides the 1010 BIOS update, so I had no choice. I made a bootable floppy on my old 98se machine and used the AFUDOS utility and flashed the CMOS.
Now I have my settings back to the way they were except no overclocking atm. Im running ASUS P4C800-E now on BIOS 1010, P4 2.8c@3.0 just recently switched over to 5:4 220fsb. Had USB legacy support turned off, performance mode standard, 2.75v on the Corsair 1gig XMS 3700, AGP and PCI ratios were locked. You guys ever had something like this happen, or maybe give me some incite into what would have caused this? I deftly afraid that it will happen again, and then I don't what im going to do
