CMOS ERROR - On new Build

Let me apologize in advance if Im posting this in the wrong section

Just powered up my new rig, and am being greeted by a "CMOS Checksum BAD" message
it gives me the option to enter setup or load default values and continue, which when selected is followed by the "load windows normally or in safe mode screen" When I try to load normally I get a BSOD every time, Im guessing this is something to to with my setup settings

guy on another forum told me to try removing the battery and then restarting
now I have the same CMOS Checksum BAD message followed by a Set Date Time Message

any assistance whatsoever would be much appreciated

thanks

Have you tried to replace the battery?
You may have to re-flash your BIOS, check the vendor for the latest version.
