CMOS checksum error - system lock-up!

Hey huys, I need some help here. I have a Duron 1.2 on an ECS K7SEM motherboard. Recently I changed the HSF on the system and since then when I boot up the system, it gives me an error "CMOS checksum error - defaults loaded" then when you press DEL to enter the CMOS setup, the screen goes blank. If you press F1 to continue the screen also goes blank! The system just won't boot. I made sure I discharged static before I changed the HSF and I didn't even get close to the BIOS chip. What could be wrong? Is it fixable or do I have to get another motherboard? I can't even flash the BIOS because the system won't even reach the boot sequence phase. Help!!!!😕

To see if you can get into the BIOS: Unplug the computer, take out the battery, and if it has one use the jumper to clear the CMOS. Leave it like that for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Put everything back in it's place and try to get into the BIOS.

If the BIOS is fried, there is a website out there that can provide you with a BIOS, can't remember it off the top of my head right now but I'll provide a link...

Edit: Oh, just hit me... Bad Flash.com

Also check the CPU itself in case the HSF wasn't put on properly, it could have fried the motherboard....

did you try moving the lil jumper on the board to clear the CMOS?
i don't know if it will matter, but worth a shot 🙂
