CMOS Checksum Error - survives reflash?

I have an MSI Neo Platinum motherboard with a 3200+ DTR in it. Worked fine for about a week, but when I changed some settings in the BIOS and rebooted, it wouldn't post.

If I clear the CMOS and reboot, it will clear the memory test and then give me a CMOS Checksum Failed - defaults loaded error. If I reset again (soft, hard, power cycle) I'll again get no post and have to clear the CMOS.

I've tried reflashing the BIOS (1.3, which is what was working and what it shipped with), but that doesn't have any effect. I've also checked the battery, it's 2.94 V, which is fine.

The only other thing is I had to reinstall windows when I switched motherboards, and forgot that I then had to also reinstall SP2, so the box was pretty much open (although behind a router) for about a week. I'm wondering if I just have a pesky virus, although a subsequent install of McAfee has not found anything. It's also worth noting that when I was first running the system, I was getting 80 fps in CS:Source on max settings, but am now down to 20 fps on minimum settings.

So, any idea what's going on with the system I just dropped $1k on?

Thanks.

I'm also guessing that my performance hit is due to the BIOS selecting the base 4x multiplier on a fresh reset.
