CMOS checksum error on Abit KR7A-Raid KT266A

Does anybody here have experienced CMOS checksum error after shutting down the system with Abit KR7A-Raid KT266A mobo?

Everytime I shutdown my machine and later reboot it again it will reset my BIOS settings at the same time giving me CMOS checksum error message. For your information, eventhough I flashed my BIOS to 6N (it was 6G) the newer BIOS version, it won't solve the problem. (problem won't occur if I restart the machine)

I just got this new mobo from newegg.com which I had to replace my previous mobo EPOX EP-8K7A because of numerous problems ie. Northbridge fan didn't work etc.

I heard some ppl said that newegg.com sells some used mobo which they post as new ones??? Dang....

System Specs:
AMD Athlon 1.4gig AYHJA Stepping
256mb x2 Crucial 32x64 RAM
30 gig Maxtor ATA 100 HDD
Liteon CDRW 24x
Visiontek AGP GForce GTS-v 32MB ram
500W POWMAX power supply
1.8 CPU Core voltage (had to set at this voltage to make it stable (don't know why??)
ratio divider FSB sets at 4:2:1 which is wierd coz' I haven't overclocked my machine yet????
Not running on RAID (too much hassle after I read the review)

This is a second mobo that I bought from newegg.com. Ain't gonna buy stuffs from them again. What a dissapointment. Anybody can help with my problem.

Thank you.

This site may give you some help. I'm willing to bet it is your RAM settings. Here are mine:

From SoftmenuIII Setup:
DDR voltage= 2.75V

From Advanced Chipset Features/DRAM clock:
DRAM clock= 133
timing= manual
cas= 2
interleave= 4
Precharge to active(trp)= 2T
Active to Precharge (Tras)= 5T
Active to CMD= 2T
DDR DQS input= Auto
DDR DQS Output= Auto
DRAM que= 4 Level
DRAM Command= 2T (try this first- if stable then try 1T)
DCLK Feedback= 0ps

I also enabled the 15M-16M memory hole- probably not necessary though.

I think most of my problem was the DDR voltage. PM if you get stuck.

1). Are you using ECC modules?? These boards do not like Crucial 256 ECC modules.

2). Have you manually set the bios for the CPU you are using??

CPU operating speed= User Define (you will just enter the default settings for your CPU anyways for now)
FSB= 133 (default for you)
Multiplier= 10.5 (default for you)
Speed error hold= disabled

CPU power= User define
Vcore= 1.75
I/O= 3.5
DDR= 2.75

The divider will automatically default to 4:2:1 when you enter 133 FSB.

nope I have checked it from crucial website. It's a non parity ram (CT3264Z265.16T) ram module.

I will try to config it with your configuration. Hope this works.

I was wandering does this mobo run stable under PC2400/PC2700 ram module?

Anyways, thanks for putting your attention to my message.🙂

I had the same problem with my old BXMaster mobo. I never did find a definitive answer to why it was giving me that error message. I hope you figure it out...and post the solution 🙂

I wouldn't think the computer would even boot with the cmos jumper set to clear.

There should be a "bios update" setting in bios that can be disabled. How do you have that set?
