Question CMOS Battery?

Whenever I unplug the PC or turn off the rocker switch at the back of the PSU my system loses it's CMOS settings. Is that a sign of that I need a new CMOS battery?

There must be something in the air regarding CMOS batteries. I just had to replace one in an LGA1155 system for a friend. I would say he had a good run on the no-name battery that was in there.

The one I am replacing is on a P5KE which I use to play older titles. This board has got to be at least 13 years old.

LGA1155: If it's a Sandy Bridge system that's not so bad, but for Ivy it seems a bit early. I just replaced a Lynnfield system's battery in the last month or two.

In the hands of people who insist on shutting down then switching off at the wall, in my experience the battery lasts six years.
